This must be intended to piss someone off. Consider ancient, patriarchical societies. Greek kings go off on their brave quests and fierce wars. Who do you think really kept these countries running? You never hear the story of the corrupt Queen overtaxing her people. Why? Because it was the idiot husband trying to reassume his authority only to realize he was not needed. Who does Oedipus beseech for entrance in the Odyssey? The queen. It is upon her favor his fate rests. Who did you go to as a child for a favor or in the hope of permission? Perhaps you have misconstrued the reasoning behind this. The wife and mother is not an intermediary between father and child. She is the diplomatic ruler, the one who appeases your needs while maintaining the contentment of those around her. She's the one who decides dinner, vacations, bed times. If the husband wants to go out and buy a new boat, who does he clear it with? Regardless of gender dynamics, marriage is intended to be a partnership. The imposition of superiority is a corruption of the UNION and I would go so far as to suppose it determinate in marital success. I certainly would not stay in a battle for dominance when I expected harmony and communication. Grow up.
