What is the Best and Worst American Idol Season?

for me its season seven because it showcased a lot out star potential (love david cook, archuleta, brook white, carly smithson, Jason Castro) and its the first season to allow all the contenders to play their instruments w/c is cool (david cook, best guitar player, brook white, nice piano playing).
the worst is season five because i expect that elliot yamin will win. i hate taylor hicks... he's not worthy of the title.
in addition, the worst american idol for me is fantasia because i hate her voice, its annoying. if jennifer hudson or jasmine trias won the season 3, i will add this seasonj as one of the best season.

Season 7 is definitely the best for now. It was hard to choose who was the best but I do agree it's David Cook! Love him! I don't really know which season is the worst though..I missed the first and second season. Maybe it's season 5? Since Taylor Hicks won but somehow I don't hear any songs from him?

I loved season 7 as well! There was so many performers that all did so well it was so hard to pick a favorite. I was a little disappointed in that Carly Smythson and Brooke White had both released albums prior to appearing on AI though. I thought the purpose of AI was to find that undiscovered, rough gem. Not give musicians who have already put out recordings another shot. Still, all in all, what a season it was!
I don't know about the worst season. I didn't watch when Jennifer Hudson won. I really didn't like Taylor Hicks and was very disappointed when he won...has he ever even released an album? You never hear or see of him. I love Elliot Yamin and was really sad to hear that his mother had passed away. I enjoyed seeing her on the show, she seemed like such a wonderful person and it was really nice to see the love between her and Elliot. I am so glad that his songs are doing well.
Oh another reason for season 7 being so great was renaldo! The brothers forever song! LOL

the best is the season just ended since it showcase the best amrican idol ever - david cook
event he judges agreed on the point that this is the season that has greatest talents they have ever seen..the best of the best they say..
for the worst, hmm i think hicks' season, the talents back then werent good compared to other seasons..

I think best season has been the 7nth one, cause there was sooo much talent this year like Carly Smithson, David Cook, David A and Amanda Overmyer (yes, Amanda, I just looove her uniqueness) and they were all different, it was like "something for everyone"... the worst one, I could say, The 5th?? the one that Taylor Hicks won, cuz it had nothing to do with the voice... of course, Taylor is a showman but Katharine Mcphee had better vocals, just my oppinion though!
