Yesterday at my college they were taking blood donations. Which is something I've always wanted to do! I was so determinded to donate blood I actually did it! I felt so proud of myself for donating something that might just save a life one day. Plus it only took about 2 1/2 minuts to fill my pint up! I got stickers, t-shirt, and loads of coupons. Everyone warned me about the side-effects, how i would feel faint and dizzy. After filling up my bag I felt fine and decided to go to the school cafe for some food. To my horror I began sweat through my clothes and passed out! [not to mention I lost complete control of my bladder!]. I felt like such an idiot and tons of people were staring at me.
Have you donated blood? Why?
What was your expeirence afterwards?

I donate blood every chance I get.I'm almost up to my gallon. :) My husband has already donated a gallon and is working on his second. What really makes ya feel good is when you get an email from the ones sponsoring the blood drive telling you that your donation just saved a life. :) Wow...what a feeling!!! We are going back on the 8th of August to donate again. I'm looking forward to it. :)
I've never had any experiences like you, HollywoodBarbi. Usually right after we donate we go eat something sweet which seems to help. Your's is one of the first reactions I've heard like that. I hope that doesn't deter you from giving in the future. :) There's hundreds of people out there that depend on your dontations. :)

Wish I could!
I admire people who are doing that. Donating blood to save others.
Don't know if this is true, i have heard from friends that when you have a tattoo, you can't donate a blood anymore. I have a 2 x 10 inches tattoo on my right upper arm, they said, once you have a tattoo you can't donate a blood anymore. It saddened me, cause i know the "great" feeling of giving something to others, what more you are giving them your BLOOD.
I had my tattoo 13 years ago.
Hope someone can share info on this.
I ADMIRE PEOPLE WHO DONATED BLOOD...

If you have a tatoo you can donate blood! but you must wait a one year afterwards to make sure you didn't contract anything. obviously since you had yours 13 years ago, you can donate blood! Its a great feeling to know that you have given a part of your body to save a life. After I gave my pint I sat there and thought about it. I almost had a panic attack knowing that some of my blood is gone and going to be in someone else. Its a really weird feeling. haha I almost asked for my blood back!
so next time you see a blood drive . . . go for it!
you can't be on any anti-biotics or asprine when you donate blood, though.
