Do you make sure the notification is set for "ON" when you add new friends?

Whenever I add new friends to my list I go right then if possible to make sure the notification is set for "ON". I want to make sure I always receive notice when my friends start new discussions. I always check every day when I log on to MyLot under the discussions my friends have started so if there is something I relate to that I can make sure I respond to the ones they have started. I'm afraid if I don't go right then and check the notification that I'll forget someone and I don't want that to happen.
What about you? How often do you check your notifications here on MyLot?
Have a wonderful day!!

Yes, I always turn notifications ON.
But I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I just had over 300 old emails at my mylot email address.
I finally just deleted all of them tonight, because I hadn't been able to get to all of them in a long time.
But I just can't bring myself to turn them off. I feel like I may miss out on a good discussion.

I know what you mean. After I have seen who all has started discussions then I delete the e-mails from my box. Then when I login here I go that tab and start looking at the discussions again. I'm like you, I'm afraid I'll miss out on something! Thanks for responding!!

As soon as I add a new friend I make sure the notification is on. That way I am able to get all the new discussions they start. Sometimes I do go to their home page to check on the old discussions they have started and put in a response to the ones I have not replied to.

HI Sheila. Just like you, I see to it that if a friend is added to my list, I go directly to my friends list and see to it that I turn on their notifications. In that way, I can track if a friend posted a new topic so I can respond to them easily. Keep posting! HUGZ!

Yes, whenever I add someone new I always go and make sure their notification is on. Sometimes I've been surprised because inexplicably another person's notification is OFF, and I know I had turned it on. That has happened to quite a few people here I guess.

Not always. It would be impossible to clear my email if all my friends had the notifications on. I turn on the notifications of the friends that I tend to respond more to - because the topics interest me in general, because we seem to have many interests in common, etc.
I have quite some friends with the notification on.
The others I try to answer a bit at a time. I usually either go to the "discussions my friends started" and answer from there, or I often go to my friends pages and check each one on that page to see if there are new discussions to respond to. Next time I will do the same to another page, and so on.
I check my myLot email each day when I have some time to come to myLot and I respond to the discussions from there. Then I check the other friends that are not on notification.

I actually turned them off when I was away for a month or so and left only a few (well those who were active at the time). All the new ones, I go through the "friends started" tab. It's just too many emails now and it's clogging up my in box.
I am not as active as I use to be and it will likely continue this way. I still have your notification on though :)

Thanks hon!! I don't always get to respond or start discussions here every day, but I definitely want to know when my friends start one. I have several friends that I haven't heard from in a long time and I don't know if they are even active anymore. I'm thinking about going through my list and deleting those to make way for new friends. But I definitely keep your notification in the "On" setting too. :) Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Yes I always set the notification to on. If I'm unable to do it right away than I just don't approve a friendship until I do have time to complete it. That is why I was so upset there for so long when I wasn't getting any of my friends posts or comments. I am getting some now as this is one of them but when I went in to check on myLot I noticed that I had missed a lot of posts not coming through which explained why I thought myLot was very slow when in fact it wasn't slow at all, I'm just not recieving properly. Take Care

I know what you mean. Sometimes I'll have spells where I don't get that many notifications through my e-mail. Sometimes my e-mail acts up, I don't know why. But I try to make sure all my friends are set this way. You take care too hon!!

If I am extremely busy I may not be able to check it every time, but I'm getting old LOL!! and my brain don't work as good as I would like for it to. So I try to remember to check every time but sometimes I get too busy also. Thanks for responding!!

There is no way I could keep up with all of my friend's discussions and I wouldn't even attempt it.
I work strictly from the website and I'll read/respond to whatever catches my eye, friend or not. If I did things strictly from friends' emails, I would never have time to do anything else and would miss a lot of what else goes on out there.
You're more visible to me if you're a friend because there's a category for that on the main page, but I don't limit myself.

You have a good point there. My e-mail box does get crowded during the day, but I also have trouble with my e-mail sometimes not going through like it should and I'm always afraid I'll miss something. Thanks for responding hon and hope you have a wonderful day!!

Actually no, I don't have any of my friends set up to notifiy me of their discussions. I prefer to find discussions that interest me rather than being buried under tons of email notifications. If I come across one of their topics that interest me I'll reply. But I'm not going to respond to all their discussions just because they are on my friends list.

I do not want my myLot email to get overloaded. I usually go on the myLot myself and start answering the posts my friends make. I do have about three who I have notifications on and I really should put on some more, but I have not had time to do it. I also post some subjects that one has to think about. I think if you post subjects that no one gets offended about, or that brings up bad memories for you or them that you are more than likely to put notifications on for all your friends.

I have to go check that every now and then because I seem to forget to set it to "on" when I accept a friend. I wish it would do it automatically and we had to go and turn if "off", LOL but that is just my opinion. God bless you!

Hi Sheila,
When I saw the question, the first thing I did was to turn on the notifications for the new friends I got in the last few days. I had completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me!!
I check my email account that I have set up for just myLot notifications so that I can see the new discussions and comments from my friends first. After I do that, I come to myLot to see what else is being discussed.
Hopefully, one of these days, I'll get the hang of not accidentally closing out the email window when I'm in here and not accidentally closing out the myLot window when I'm in the email.

Sometimes. It so happens that I respond to interesting discussion and also discussions which require only one line responses. So I usually get friends request from both the types of discussions starter. So I start the Notification on for people who I have noticed make better discussions and responses.
