I was playing double-dutch ( you know the game with the rope?) I hadn't jumped rope in years, I am talking over 20 years here. I had a ball and it brought back memories of my chidhood. there was only one problem though..........I jumped so much that I became ill. My stomach wasn't feeling good and I mean, I was jumping for a long time and I believe that, with a combination of my age and the fact that it had been so long is what caused my stomach to mess up. But you know what, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Hey ladies from my generation (I'm 39), do you remember double-dutch?

Well I'll start off by saying I'm not exactly in your age group (i'm 26) but I remember double dutch and I now have a 5 year old daughter that I am teaching to skip rope and when she has that mastered I plan on teaching her double dutch. I loved to jump rope and even though I never got the hang of double dutch, I want my daughter to try and experience the joys of trying.

Wel you see liltunergirl, that is how I started jumping last nite, bucause my sister was trying to teach her daughter's friend and once I got in the rope, there was no stopping me. Thanks for responding and God Bless!

Oh, I remember it. I tried to show my kids the other day, but I have problems with my legs, so I couldn't jump the way I used to. It sucks to get older....

Hi. I remember jumping rope in the street when I was a kid. I can't say I remember any of the names, and I know I don't remember Double Dutch.
I'm older than you are, but even at your age, there's no way I would jump rope. Too much impact for this body. Your stomach got upset, my back and feet would be screaming if I jumped rope.
Is my answer disqualified because I'm not your age

While I am from a later generation (I'm 26) I remember double dutch! That was one of my favorite games to play in elementary school. That's so cool that you jumped again, lol and I can only imagine all the childhood memories it brought back! :o) Your post makes me want to call up my little cousins and see if they want to do some DD!

I envy you. I can hardley jump rope let alone double dutch. It is amazing that people can jump to ropes!!! I always wished that I could do that. I remember seeing a show and it say that they are double dutch competitions. Thats pretty cool. I want to say that the special I saw may have been on the Today show.
Talking about trying out old habits. I desided that I would go for a bike ride the other day. I live on a hill. So in order to get any where I need to ride down hill, but in order to get home I need to go up hill. So I had to change the saying, "It's all up hill from here." From my house that saying is true.
