First things first, God should want to befriend you, otherwise, you'll never have a relationship with him. I actually sense something with your post. The heresy of "ACCEPT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IN YOU HEART" has been doing a lot of deceptions lately. Most people think that the Kingdom of God belongs to those who accept it, but the bible tells otherwise. Those who belong to the kingdom are those who were wanted by God to be in His kingdom. A sheep will always be a ship, and a goat? a goat! The relationship with Jesus comes from Him and not a response from us, His call is irresistible, that's why we can never take any credit from being a part of His kingdom, because we were chosen, and it wasn't the other way around.

Surely, the call of Jesus will make us willing. It is Irresistible. I understand what you are trying to say, but your statement shows that a man can be a christian by his own decision, which I am strongly opposing now. Thanks for your time though.

I look at my relationship with God, as a relationship with a father. Because he is after all our Heavanly father. As you know relationships take effort. You talk, you show your love, etc.
So, you pray, you read his word (the bible), you act in a way that will please him, and you will recieve the benefits of that relationship!
You go to him when you are really happy, sad, angry, etc. Form a relationship with God that pleases both of you! =)
Hope that helps!

As I said about the father relationship.
God wants you to come to him. He said he would not disrupt free will, meaning he will not step in and change someone's free will, thoughts, actions, etc.
In the same way a father sets his child on his own, hoping he will do as he taught him and come to him in life, God hopes that you will do as he teaches and eventually find your place with him in Heaven!
Sorry wanted to add that point.

Find yourself a good bible base church, even if you have to visit several until you find one that you feel at home with. Ask friends and neighbors, most will be glad you asked. This is a starting point. Watch the programs on tv last at night. If you've never had a relationship with God then you probably need to attend a bible study class or sunday school before trying to understand the bible. If you believe in prayer and don't know how to pray just say what on your heart and mind, tell God you desire a relationship with him. May the God be with you.

I would pray. Talk to God, tell him how you feel. Pray everynight and talk to him as one of your closet friends. Thank him for everything that is good in your life, ask his help for anything that isn't. God forgives all sins and anyone can have a relationship with God. I will admit sometimes it is hard to believe that he loves you and you are his son. Sometimes it is hard especially when things are going wrong in your life, but if you stick to it you will see the blessings. Have a wonderful night!
