Does your cat ever avoid you?

You know how much I love my cats.
Well, EB, my female cat, has been avoiding
me for over a week. And I've been so sad about it.
Every time I went near her, she'd run away and hide.
Guess she was in heat or something, cause she wouldn't
sit in my lap.
But last night she hopped up on my chair and
wanted to cuddle.
Right now, she is laying across my lap as I type.
So happy to have my baby back!
Does your cat ever avoid you? Or, get scared and run
away when you try to get near?

I grow up with a lot of cats in our house. They are very playful and always keep me happy when I am on stress or have problems. My favorite among them is Ming and she is very sweet, always sit on my lap, touching her head in my legs, and sleeps with me in bed (she does not have flea) . But sometimes she is not in a good mood and avoid me when I want to hold her. I understand her because animals, like humans, have feelings too. Maybe she was just tired, or feel lazy, or wanted to be alone.

Oh that sounds too cute!
My cat, EB loves to sleep on my bed too.
She is a really good companion.
She never runs from me.
I guess the other ones get shy sometimes
or want to be alone.
Cats are very finicky.
I don't know why.

My youngest cat can be a little b*tch from time to time, out of no where she will hit me in the head sitting on a higher step of the staircase, scratch me when I tickle her tummy (while normally it's ok) or hide under my bed so I can't get her out of my room when I really need to get out fast.
When she has days like this and she's just scratching and hitting me I can get pretty upset with her, to her it's a game but she can get carried away sometimes.
Luckily after some time she allways come around and sit on my shoulder, cuddling my face by rubbing her head against my cheek with so much effort that she allmost falls of my shoulder.
It's a good thing she has two different sides and both are so extreme otherwise there wouldn't be enough love to compensate the mad times she experiences from time to time... ouch .

That's too cute!
My cats have their split personalities, too.
Very loving and adorable.
And then little hell cats.
Lucky for me, they take their aggressions
out on each other.
And they just give me the lovin'!

i will be the saddest person in the world if they did that. i am very close to my cats and they want to be around me all the time. if i get home and they didn't come out to greet me, i'll suspect something is wrong. when i wake up and get ready for work, they'll follow me around until i leave home. the day that my babies decide to ignore me will be the saddest day in my life. the only time they try to avoid me is when they know it's bath time. at that time, they'll run like devil is after them and i'll have a hard time catching them. lol

awww poor EB, must be a really traumatising experience.
my girl likes to follow me into the bathroom too. when i start to shower, she'd look at me with shock in her eyes. it's like she cannot believe i actually enjoy the water raining on my body. it's really funny how she wants to protect me from the water. cheers ;p

Poor babies don't like water!
That is certainly understandable.
Once my big cat, Big Man was chasing
his mate EB, around the house and EB
ran into the bathroom and up onto the side
of the tub and accidentally fell into the tub.
I had been running some water for a bath.
Lucky her, it was just room temperature.
Didn't take her more than a second to scramble up
out of the water.
I saw the entire thing and was
turning to move to help her, but she was so quick
that she wasn't even in the water for five seconds.
She never forgot her experience
and has always been so shy around water.
Not so for Big Man.
He will come into the bathroom when I am taking a tub
bath and put his paws up on the side of the tub and glare
at me with those sad eyes, as if to say,
"What the heck are you doing, Mommy!"
He is so funny and the light of my life.
He's like a child. Always looking out for me.
He sounds the alarm when anything is wrong in the house.
Thanks for talking to me about your cats.
Always nice to meet another avid cat person.

I have 3 cats and yea sometimes one or another will avoid me for whatever reason. I have Miss Kitty, the mama, nobody knows her ryhme or reason for anything. Bubba who often gets dries dingle berries, so he avoids me in the bathroom where he often gets his butt washed. Sissy who "goes" in other places besides the cat box. She avoids me everywhere after she had a spanking. How soon she forgets. Mostly i just wait till they come to me.

My cat always avoids me now! He has since I had my first child 7 years ago. Then he kind of got over it and along came my 2nd child! After that we had to get rid of our other cat who was a neurotic mess and started pooping all over the house. Once that happened, my other cat rarely comes around. He has since been permanently kicked outside for peeing on our carpet. I've had to cut out 2 sections of carpet - one on the stairwell and one in my bedroom - because of it. He's always been a problem with it, but I thought I had broken him of his habit up until the kids came. When I can afford to replace the carpet I really want to get a kitten that will grow up WITH my kids. They are now 7 & 4 so I think it's a perfect age to get one.

Boy cats are good about the avoidance game.
They usually bond with one person for life.
And noone else.
My spouse has a hard time getting close to my big male cat.

Yeah, my big cat hates that carrier thing.
He heads for the closet when he sees it!
He's such a big baby.

The only person that my male cat does not avoid most of time is my daughter. He will always let her pet him, but he does not really like anyone else. He will occasionally ask me to pet him, but for the most part I am just the lady that gives him food.

Oh! That sounds like our kitten.
For all intents, she is my daughter's cat
and she doesn't really like to hang around me much.
Course, with being said, she just jumped up
next to me while I'm typing.
Guess she was just curious.

We had to find another home for our cat recently. But when she lived here avoidance was a specialty. Under the bed was a favorite spot. Right where she couldn't be reached. Another favorite was in the closet. Never knew what would set her off. Glad you have her back.

When mommy Teddy gave birth to three kittens and I started playing with the kittens, my cat Paborito (Teddy's brother) avoided me for a few days because my attention suddenly went to the kittens. But when the kittens started coming to him, he was able to adjust, and now all of us are "living happily ever after."

I am an animal lover myself! My cats do that too sometimes. I makes me sad as well . I think sometimes they might be hot, tired, or in heat. I try to think that they are little fuzzy people too and can't help but have emotions and "not want to be bothered." Either way, I'm sure it soesn't have anything to do with her feeling towards you. Have a wonderful night!

I was worried. She is usually very attached to me
and acts clingy. And I don't mind that.
I had thought maybe I'd hurt her feelings or something
cause I don't let her sleep on my bed anymore.
She has a couple fleas!

my oldest cat pleases herself all the time but the yongest follows me everywhere always close whatever room i go in she follows. She sleeps next to the computer when i'm on here so sweet. When i went away to visit friends i was away approx 2 weeks and when i came back she completely ignored me and sat with my partner all the time. if she was in the same room she would turn her back to me. It took her about a week to forgive me and i had to do plenty of grovelling but my pets are my babies so it's worth it. I'd be devastated if she left me for two weeks

My cat likes to play favourites with my husband and I, depending on what mood he's in. Sometimes he'll cling to me, sometimes he'll cling to my husband, sometimes he'll go between the two of us spending equal time with each of us, other times he'll hide somewhere, not caring about us at all.

Nope, never. Sometimes she tries to ignore us, she does that psychological thing where she thinks if she ignores us she'll get more attention in the long run. Sometimes she runs away from you but only to try and get you to chase her and play with her. My cat is a very loving cat who loves to be fussed.

I used to have a lot of cats to play with at my mother's house. When I left her house to live in an apartment, my cats flee away from my mother's house. I felt like all my cats are no longer a part my life, because they all became wild and never to return. I really miss having my cats.

My daughter says that cats are a law unto themselves, and that her cat can sometimes appear hostile towards her,but at other times then she is very loving,if the youngster,my grandson is about then she stays in hiding lol and I dont blame her one little bit,but maybe she just likes her mum all to herself, and why shouldnt she once in a while!
