does anybody play Travian?

I have just started to play travian online. Is it me, or is this a really slow moving game where you just have to wait around a lot before you can do more? Can anybody tell me if your building actions also continue when you log off?

I've actually played Travian for a whole server, but it does get boring after all. It does seem that there is limited things to do, just level up and upgrade some buildings and wheat fields, build troops to raid people. That's about it, to be honest.
