Is there any way to know who gave us negative raiting in Mylot?

I think it's best not to obsess over your ratings. It's a nice thing to have and sometimes it can indicate whether a user posts useful things or not so useful, but the fact is some people will just rate you down based on the content of your argument rather than the substance of it. In other words, you could write a beautiful post expressing your feelings about something and be rated down by someone just because they don't feel the way they do. Don't take it to heart. Most people don't abuse the rating system so in the long run your star rating should reflect the kind of poster you are, but it's probably impossible to avoid little dips now and then, especially when you write a controversial post. Personally, I'm glad we can't find out who gives us negative ratings -- that would just create more wars between people here.

Unfortunately, as it stands now there is no way for us to know who has given us negative ratings but as you're here longer you'll start to be able to at least guess who it may have been and why, although you won't be able to prove it. If everyone followed the myLot Guidelines there would be relatively few members here with ratings below an 8 or 9 but it seems many members either don't understand the TOS or choose to ignore them. The rating system isn't meant to be used against people who post an opinion that doesn't match the rater's own view, it's meant to be used for abusive posts or for posts that are off-topic or obviously not well thought out such as short, one word or phrase responses. When my star first fell I felt very bad just as you did but I've come to realize it doesn't mean a thing. I have lots of wonderful friends here and if they don't care what my "myLot reputation" is, why should I? Some members choose to avoid the controversial topics such as politics and religion in order to maintain their blue star but I'm here to discuss and debate the things that interest me so I don't let my rating affect my activities here at all. You'll discover before long that if you post in the "politics" interest and you happen to be a bit left of center - and I mean just a TINY bit...lol - there will be those who will attack you and call you names and, I would assume, give you minus ratings. If you're to the right, and it could be WWWWAAAAAAYYYYYY right, you'll do fine. And that's fine with me, too, I like to discuss things and I never take it personally, I respect everyone's opinion and their right to express it. My advice to any new or fairly new members here is to enjoy yourself, post to discussions that interest you and just be respectful of others. Annie

I was going through all the responses you got for this discussion and everyone seems to feel the same way.It has happened to most of us.I think we should not give importance to it and get upset about it.We should just keep going.In a way its good that we do not know who rated us negative that's good, maybe if we knew it, we would have bitter feelings towards that person and the chain reaction takes place.Just ignore and keep posting, just enjoy yourself, this is a wonderful community where people from different parts of the world take part in it.We do not know the person their religion their gender nothing but still we all happen to be friends.Its such a a amazing feeling.We find so many who discuss their problems get so much comfort from the others.There are plenty of wonderful people here so just ignore the others and have a nice time out here.Take care.God Bless.

i guess you cant trace the person who has given you the negative or positive marking, im so sorry that you got your rating reduced for 1 its very difficult to digest our low ratings but dont worry you can make it very soon, its so nice of you that you havent marked any one negative and even i havent done it.. keep rocking with mylot... am so sure you can very soon gain one more mark to rate 10 :)

I think it happens to everyone from time to time and as far as I know there is no way to prevent it from happening. I also dont think there is any way to find out who gave you the negative rating. I think you can just hope thtat some one will rate you positve to counter and things will go back to the way they were.

It happens to everyone but I don't think there is a way to find out. I hardly even pay attention to what people have in their little star. If it is a topic I can reply to I do, the users star doesn't matter to me. I am sure some people take this seriously but I am not sure why. If someone who doesn't know anything about me thinks he is cool by rating me a negative and that somehow makes him feel better then so be it.

Hi friend, i too haven't given any negative to anybody. There are some behind for choosing negative i think. They are response like, i don't know, you are wrong, simply yes or no, rude answers, unnecessary comments. This will definitly lead to - marking.

Hello, AshleyHasan. There is no way to know who rated your comments/discussions negatively. That is a way to keep people's privacy. After all, people have the right to rate your comments accordingly to their opinion. If somebody thinks that what you posted was untrue/offensive/against their ideas, they have the freedom to rate you negatively. This is how it is on debating, you cannot make others agree with you all the time. We have to accept that people's opinion will be different from ours, and some of them will just rate us negatively because of it. But myLot staff says they are watching closely the rating system, so I guess that there is no injustice in all of this. If somebody rated you negatively unfairly, myLot staff will correct it. hi ashleyhasan ther is no way of knowing who gave us negative ratings and u sually it is people who are teed off at us becausethey do not like a discussion or response of ours.You are only supposed to rate someone negative if he or she has insulted you with nasty words or flamed you, not just because you disagree with their discussion or response. I was knocked down from 10 to a 6 overnight because I had started two discussions,one on smoking being bad for your health, and the other on jehovahs witnesses and being at your door for hours. people really got mad over these, and I did not deserve their negatives as I had done nothing wrong. I am now back to an 8.

I don't think it's possible to know. and personally i wouldn't like that to happen. not because i do give - ratings but i don't really like to know who gave me those negative ratings. because if you did know who it was. what will you do? don't know what i will do so i'll just stick to not being able to know it after all. besides, you can't please everyone. have a good day:)-NEIL™

I am new in here and never really knew about this rating thing until i encountered it today. I enjoyed posting and responding to posts that interest me that i never did have noticed "rating thing".

Hey Ashley, I will only be saying what everyone has already told you. Unfortuately, this happens to just about everyone. I've only been here a month and the first time I got a little drop I was so upset. I didn't know what I could have done. But my friends explained it to me just like everyone has explained it to you. Basically we don't know who or why negative ratings are given, they just are. So we just have to try to ignore them and go on posting and enjoying our friends and the discussions here at mylot and let the staff take care of the rest! I am still a bit new and do not have the answer. But, I am wondering the same thing.

Good day.. You'll bounce back in time don't worry. Did you see a member that has 1 in it's star, I did and even thank mylot for it. That member didn't ask to be rated down as some senior members do but he had 1 in his star.

I don't think it's ethical for mylot to report who your enemies are. There's always a possibility of you getting even by giving the other guy a negative rating for no good reason except to get back. But I never give negative ratings and don't think I ever will. MyLot is a place for everyone to become a community. Many members are here for the money. SO I definitely don't want to sabotage that!

BUt as i known, it could not be checked out to know who leave us the negative feedback.I think mylor is fair to all of us.Because we all don't know who is the attacker.But i always think as long as i treat every of my friends honest and friendly,i think they will be good to me too.No worries, my friend, just keep posting and rating, you will make your star reputation up to higher soon.lol good luck to you.

There isn't a way to know who left you a negative rating. It is so sad when your rating goes down. Especially if you weren't mean or didn't say anything rude! I get the same way. I try not to worry about it too much, it happens to everyone. Take care!
