Okay here is a selection of some of the things I picked this afternoon from my garden. gawddd I love picking fresh veggies daily like this. I have a lot of pickles to make as you can see. There's still a bunch more that will be ready to pick Saturday as well. Many more tomatoes, I mean hundreds on my plants. The Grape tomato is putting out hundreds as well. The corn now seems to have 2 ears on almost every stalk. Seems my brocholi is about done for the year after 5 pickings. More to plant next year though. Bell peppers and banana peppers are very stunted due to the weather here but looking and tasting great. The zuchinni is starting to pick up and get larger now. A few days and I'll have some zuchinni as well. I think this covers most my garden. So what did you pick today from your garden? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

hi grandp bob boy your hard work is paying off just great.just'think of how much you save growing your own delicious fresh veggies. I am definitely going to have some home grown stuff next year. So I havent had a garden this year to pick anything from. my son did pull the two biggest weeds inour 1001 ca. weed patch. So now I must go and cook some frozen veggies straight from the store and a couple of hot dogs.wont be as fresh as your veggies but will have to do. lol.

Save? I give most the things away. Hahahaha! I just gave the neighbors 2 one gallon baggies fully loaded. But they love them as does the kids she daycares for. Plus the smiles from the kids and her when they get them is worth a million dollars. Maybe cook those monster weeds even? Hahahaha! Thanks friend. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It;s enough work growing them. I don't want the added work of having to set up a stand etc. HAHAHA! I have never had okra as a plant. I can't recall if I've ever eaten it as well. Yes it's very rewarding. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sounds like you have had a very busy time this afternoon picking from your garden. I remember growing up that my aunt and uncle always had a big garden and also a cousin of mine. They live in the country and have a lot of room for gardens. I used to be good at picking beans, peas, tomatoes, squash...on the list goes on and on just like yours does. Some fresh tomato, fried okra, creamed corn, fried egg plant would taste so good right now....dang making myself very hungry for some fresh veggies. Next time I go visit my daughter she and I need to make a trip to my aunts.

I was not forced to pick things in the garden but when there visiting my aunt and uncle it was either eat the veggies or go hungry and I got so tired of it and swore up and down that I would never eat veggies when I was older and had the choice and oh boy do I miss them now. She is just like my mother was though, not a better cook around, love that country cooking.

Well too much details to hget into as far as starting a garden. Things become ripe at various times so it's all a matter of starting the plants at the right times. Go to a garden store reading the packets of thre seeds and then you'll get an idea as to what to plant and when to plant them and how long beforee they are ripe. That's how I did it. Sorry I am not a lot of help. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sadly no, not since we moved to our current house. I've done small container gardening before, but nothing major in the yard. I think I have ample yard space and each year I promise myself that I will start a veggie garden. But then it's way into summer and I haven't. Where would I start? Are there certain veggies that are easier to grow even for someone who doesn't have a green thumb? I'm definitely into the whole thrifty money saving aspect of having a garden. That would be my primary goal. Would appreciate any advice you might have. Thanks!

Wow...that's great! I really envy for those people who has green thumb...my husband has it and he likes planting plants and veggies. I also like to have it but i can't...hehe maybe because plants doesn't like my hand. Keep on planting...plants needs those people like you...and do some planting activities to our community so you can help to save our world too!!!

Today, in my almost non garden, I do have tomatoes, and lots of luscious grapes. I have had a busy two days, but will show a picture of some of the grapes in a discussion tomorrow. I just have a very little time here today. I have deadfall apples that I will pick up and make applesauce, the others will be to eat. My pears are not ready for about another month, I think, and the limbs are so heavy with fruit I am afraid they will break.

I planted a grape two years ago. Last year we got 3 groups was all. This year it did not show up in the yard. Suddenly 2 weeks ago it popped up. Well I redug the area adding some of my home made compost and it is thriving like crazy. Might get some grapes but not sure. I want to have a few vines in the future but only if this one takes and takes for a few years at least. My apple tree is sloped over from fruits as well. Good luck and see you soon. We are harvesting lots of green beans and carrots and onions. We have a ton of tomatoes, we have already pulled 2 zucchini, our asparagus is done now, we just planted a second crop of peas and a third crop of radishes, lettuce and spinach. Our peppers are a little slow this year,I think because of where we placed them! your bounty looks wonderful!

We are finally getting some red tomatoes. Our grape tomatoes are going crazy. We picked some zucchini and okra and green beans last night and will probably pick cucumbers again in the next day or so. We got 25 quarts of plums off our plum tree... the plum preserves are delicious!!! The peaches are ready to be picked off both our peach trees,(thats what I'll be doing this weekend), the apples and pears are loaded but won't be ready for another couple of months. I've done lousy with blackberries this year. The bushes are in the back of our dam behind our lake and hard to get to. :( We also have other veggies not quite ready to pick yet. My broccoli didn't turn out so good this year. It sounds like your garden is flourishing!! That's wonderful! :)

I have so much growing each year. I just came back from the neighbors. I took 2 one gallon baggies of fresh picked veggies for her and her daycare kids. Seems the little ones love the grape tomatoes. Hee hee. My red rasberries I cut to the ground last fall. That helps them spread. But it also causes them not to fruit for a full year or two. I did get about a pint this year though. All told I now have about 50 rasberry bushes that will give me tons of berries in 2 years. Most everything of mine did well so far. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is a beautiful picture of the veggies of the garden and you know that your one of the best gardeners that I have seen in a long time. Everything looks so nice and pretty in the picture to the point you want to reach in the screen and eat what you see. But you know that you can't do that it's a picture. Well done Green Thumb!!

Well thank you very much. I just came back in from the garden. I [picked the last of the onions then weeded the area. Dug it up. Then added some of my home made compost. Then mixed it well spreading it as evenly as I could. then I planted about 45 more onions. I love onions. Thanks bunches again. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GB! Your harvest looks good, i know how good it feels to have things that you planted with your hands come to fruitation. Thanks to you i tried my hands at growing some herbs, and i must say i'm proud at the progress so far. It's not much compared to your garden, but for me it's alot, thanks so much for the inspiration. {{{HUGS}}}

Those are some nice looking veggies. I have some tomatoes that have been green forever. I'm looking forward to seeing them get ripe. I took a whirl at growing watermelon this year. Looks like that is going to turn out good. Enjoy your salad days Grandpa Bob!

Looks yummy. I am still getting tomatoes. I am getting ready to plant again though. Here in Fl planting is a little different as our seasons are much longer than other parts of the country. I am getting ready to do some zuchinnies and some beans. My aerogarden is looking good too I have herbs going and the basil is growing very well. I love being in Fl for the long growing season if for no other reason.

Afraid I haven't picked anything today - yet anyways, been at a craft sale all day but am headed out there shortly as I know I have green beans which will mostly go in the freezer, cabbage (2 kinds), and a few tomatoes. Also have several different peppers coming soon (my bell peppers aren't doing nearly as well as I had hoped) and I'm jealous - our corn only has one ear to stalk :(
