I find it hard to fathom a Black man in the white house and with me being a die-hard democrat I question my candidates objective but I have to tell you I am not looking at the color of Obama's skin but at his character. Even though the choices are not the greatest I will not and can not see another old man with old selfish ideas sitting in the whitehouse. Bush did enough during his term that if we have to endure someone with his mindset we are headed for the return of the dark ages.As for Obama I think his best shot of winning this election is by making a steller choice for Vice-President and my choise is Al Gore....

It's great to have new ideas coming into myLot. Welcome. Now, about those new ideas ... Barack Obama is of mixed race, but why does that matter? Why is it difficult to fathom a black man in the presidency? Didn't those prejudices die out years ago? Sorry if that stung a bit, but it has to stop somewhere. Your point about the old mindset having done us all so much harm that it is hard to accept that we Americans let them get away with this is solid! We've lost so many of the social services that people are becoming victims easily, because of panic! We must return to the idea that we're all in this together. We must become confident again. We may not have the best possibe choices, but they're all we have. I hope enough peope realize how our leaders have hurt us, so we can try to regain our faith in the US.

When you are right you are right and in this case you are right, the color of Obamas skin should not make a difference but we both know that is and will always be an issue. Regardless of how hard we try there will always be some people (KKK and friends) who will never see all people as equal. I don't know much about McCain except for what I read in the paper or here on the news, but from what I got so far having him in office would be like having Bush all over again and I don't think this country can survive that ordeal again.I still say the best chance Obama has of getting into office is to pick a strong man as a running mate and that man is Al Gore period...Agree or disagree?

Several months ago, I wuld have agreed completely. Since he received his Nobel Prize, Gore has become something of a joke, and the Republicans would pile that on thick. Frankly, though, I can't imagine who wuld be a really effective corunner. I'm aware of the many negative thinkers in te US. I know a group that meets regularly for business, but they've put together a pool similar to a football pool to see who wins. The bets are on how long it will take if Obama is elected for him to be assassinated. At McCain's age, I hope he's smart enough to choose a young, strong running mate. The people who want to vote for him would want to know, I would think, who will end up serving the term out.

Thank you for the "best response". I wish we had a better political system, so our candidates would be the best of the best. The present choices aren't bad, but they're less than great.

I have always voted for the person I thought was the best rather they or Democrat or Republican but I am with you we sure dont need another old man that sits around and sleeps all the time. I have seen some presidentual speeches where when the cameras showed the congress half of them were sleeping I am still not sure what to do I may just stay home this time. God Bless America is all I can say.You have a great night and happy voting
