Where is my book?

This is really strange. I am about halfway through a book at the moment - nothing special, just an entertaining paperback. The night before last I read as usual before I go to sleep, and then put the book on my bedside table, again as usual. Then, last night, when I went to bed, I reached for my book, and it's gone. Now, I need to read before I go to sleep, so I started searching everywhere. When I couldn't find it in our bedroom, I checked every other room in the house, but I just couldn't find it. An hour later I went to bed - very stressed because I don't like losing things! This morning my husband and daughter insist that they never touched it, so it is still a mystery. So, I have two questions for you? Where is my book? I don't care how crazy the suggestion - I'll check! Have you ever lost anything and not known how you could have lost it? Did you find it, and where? Thanks!

That is so bizarre! It's like the book gnomes stole it! Stuff like that happens all the time to me. My stuff just disappears! Did you try looking under the table? Maybe it fell off? Like it's stuck between the wall and the table? That's usually where I find stuff like that when it disappears! Good luck! I hope you find it!

Hi! Have you got socks and underwear gnomes too. It is like the washing machine eats everything up! hahaha! Take care, Margajoe.

Yes, I've got them. I think there would be clear signs if my book went through the washing machine though ... lol!

I hadn't thought of the book gnomes! Of course, so obvious!!... LOL! I'm going to vacuum in there later so I'll move everything and check behind all the furniture. Things disappear there for us too, but normally nothing as big as a book. Thanks for the suggestion.

It is really strange!!! But are you sure you put it back on the table that day? Or maybe you bring it to your living room and read it there and put it on sofa or inside your desk? Try to look around. Under your bed maybe? You borrow it to your friends? Good luck my friend!!! Happy Myloting!!!

Thank you for your great ideas. I know I put it down on the bedside table at night, but I don't remember seeing it after that. I didn't read it anywhere else, but maybe I absentmindedly picked it up and moved it while thinking about something else. I don't remember doing that though! I've now checked all the places you suggested thank you! We didn't have anyone visit yesterday, so I can't blame my friends ... LOL! Thanks again for your support.

That tends to happen to me during the worst times. Once it began to rain just as I was getting ready to go to school and I couldn't find my umbrella. I had to wait at the bus stop with the rain pouring over my head. I guess having a hood or hat would have helped too. I found my umbrella under my bed after school.

How annoying! Don't you love the feeling you get when you finally find something? It's like frustration mixed with relief! I'm always finding something I wanted a few days ago when I'm looking for something else!

Behind the bed? Behind and underneath the bed? Mixed up in with all the blankets and sheets? Inside the pillow case? I have lost my book and found it in ALL these places...hope you've found it by now because I am way behind.

Oh gosh, that's so sweet. Now you will know where to look first when you next lose something....

LOL! I'll bet you never found your book in Barbie's dolls house!! I have a feeling that I know how it got there - my four year old "Mini Me" is fascinated by all I do, and I'm pretty sure she was "reading" to her Barbies. Not that she has admitted it, but unless they have invented "Walk-From-Room-To-Room-And-Take-Things Barbie" then I think it is the most likely explanation. Thanks for all the ideas - I have lost books inside the pillow case too :)

Hi Penny, Just wondering if you ever ended up finding you book?????? And yes I know where you are coming from as I miss place things all the time and then yell at the kids as to where it is and when I end up finding it and I think oh yeah that was me that put that there wasn't it and then have to go and say sorry to everyone for being a grump old woman to them ... And talking about books I am reading one by Danielle Steel called Sisters at the moment and oh I just can't finish as i have to keep putting it down as it is so sad and I have to put it down and stop reading it so i don't cry and look silly .... sook I know but it is a really good read.

Oh yeah blame the Barbies I would.... I haven't read Dune myself but I do remember my mother and one of cousins going on about what a really good book it was and that i should read it one day and i was always meaning too but that was about 20 years ago now, oh well maybe one day i might get my mum's copy and read it!

I actually ended up finding it in Barbie's dolls house ... lol. I think that my daughter must have been "reading" to her Barbie dolls. She copies everything I do, so I'm always looking for my stuff. I can't be angry, because it's cute and flattering. I really do think I am justified in blaming her this time :) although I have done the same as you and blamed her when it was actually me. I haven't read Sisters, but I do like Danielle Steel. I'm reading "Dune" at the moment. I've never read it, and happened upon it at the library. I thought I should read it as it is supposed to be a science fiction classic. I've just started it, so I don't know what to think yet. I've never seen the movie either, which is great as I'd much prefer to read a book before seeing the film.

Did you check under the edge of the bed and behind the dresser? As far as losing things, everytime i put something where i will know where it is, i forget and it takes forever for me to find it.

Thanks! I haven't had a chance to pull everything out yet, but I will. I'm sure I'll find it ... I just can't imagine where. As soon as I lose something else important, my book will show up for sure! I'm always putting things in safe places and then forgetting, but what's weird about the book is that I put it down, went to sleep and didn't touch it again.
