When prices everywhere are rising, a logical solution

I didn't think much of coupons until today. I tried saving them with a half-effort, but never really made it to the store with them. I saw a woman today on the news saying how much she saved with a method known as "couponing". I know this doesn't fit much in the make extra money, but we can save what little we do have in the process, you know? Anyway, my mother and I laughed when we watched the promo for the segment, saying that she was only saving a few pennies and what-not. We fell silent as she turned a $130 food bill into less than $20!!! Don't believe me, here's the video feed: http://www.wlwt.com/video/17048525/index.html Yeah, you are probably as charged up as I am about couponing as I am after watching that!!! She had a few sites about couponing, and I checked them out. Turns out there's a whole net community dedicated to couponing, showing you how to get the best deals and everything. Here's her sponsored links http://www.wlwt.com/money/17049154/detail.html I am about to learn everything I can about couponing, as bad as we need money around my house. Heck, in these days everyone needs to try to save money wherever they can. If I can get as good as this woman, I won't have anything to worry about.

I do think that coupons help us spend less. Just this month, i claimed my free jolibee and greenwich (local fastfood) food coupons thatv the company awards us as birthday presents. It was good enough if you happen to be in the mall and got a little hungry but you have no cash.

Yes, coupons help everyone spend less, but the thing is, from what I saw in this news story, if we just organize and create a system to clipping coupons and shopping, we could spend a lot less. I am going to learn this down pat. I may even start another blog or at least post in my current one to let people know this works!!!

Some people are whizzes with coupons that's for sure. Thanks for those websites though, I think they will be very helpful to me. I shop at Walgreens all the time. I didnt know about that super saver catagloge. I usually buy generic so I'm not usre if the coupon thing would work for me, but I might give it a try. Posting this under the frugal living category would probably get you alot more responses, but thanks again for the info.

You know what, I had totally forgotten about that category -_-* Well, we'll leave it here and see how it goes, then I'll revamp it for there.

Of course this fits into "make extra money." Dad taught me early on, that a penny saved is a penny earned. I have always belieed that.

That's right. At least that is what I was thinking when I posted it here. Maybe it would have gotten more views in Frugal, but I don't think this will be the last discussion I post about it lol.

I just paid $19.64 for $144 dollars of groceries. It can be done with coupons and buying on sale. My grocery cart was completely full and have enough food for at least 2 weeks. The people behind me were shocked to see me holding a $20.00 bill. I told the grocery line it would take awhile, but it would be exciting to watch.

I need to go shopping with you. I am especially intrigued by this because of food. We only have so many food stamps to go around every month, if I can stretch those, and the little cash that everyone gets each month, my mission will be accomplished.

Wow what a savings..I do clip coupons, but never been able to save that much. The ones that i get through mail doesn't always have them in products that i use,so maybe if i go to this site i can print some out..I know you can save because i have in the past clipped coupons and saved a lot but then i got lazy, but its time to get into them again..I cannot believe how much groceries have went up..If things don't change we are going to be eating beans & rice a lot ..haha...I remember when i was very young ,first married ,we were so broke...We rented a small 2 bedroom house with my brother & his wife and they were broke too, this was back in the day..Anyway we would get a 25 lb bag of potatoes, a large thing of rice and lots of beans..haha..We had beans & rice one day & beans & potatos the next..Thank God we had no children...

Wow, she done one great job of cutting that store bill down. I love coupons and use them whenever I get them. I have never saved that much though. The highest I have saved is a little over $6. But hey six dollars is handy when you need it like now days everything is going up and up. I will check out these links and will probably bookmark them for further help in learning to cut cost. Something has to be done or alot of people will be tightening their belts as their wallets get slimmer and slimmer.

My main problem was with the Newspaper never finding enough Coupons that I could really use, and then trying to remember to use them each time I go to the store. But I know I have been able to save a lot of money from time to time using these when I have remembered to use them. I need to check out some of the sites and such for being able to get more Coupons, as it is getting harder and harder to make ends meet, and to be able to stick to a budget more when it comes to buying food. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

OMG I must seem like such a snob. Yes I still have your link. Did you ever get a feed to your blog? That was the only thing I was waiting on to add it to my blog, because a feed works a little better than just a link. As soon as you get a feed to your blog, I'll make sure its the first one I put on the blog of mine.

I have always clipped coupons. Most of the name brands that I buy, I won't buy without a coupon and when it is on sale at the same time. They really add up quick too. The most I have ever saved is 32.00 on a 100 dollar shopping trip. It's definitely worth buying the Sunday paper for them.

I really need to learn how to live by coupons, especially since I'll be out on my own come this September (well, with roommates, but that's not the point). I've heard of people who plan their meals for the week around the best deals they can get with their coupons. I know there are a few websites you can get them from, though you can also do the tried-and-true method of clipping them out of newspapers and whatnot. I know my parents used to do that, but I don't think they really do nowadays, which is too bad. It might be a bit of a hassle, but you'd think saving a few dollars would be worth it! Thanks for posting the feed; I'll check it out later tonight when I'm at home.

We use coupons for the things we need and also our store gives discounts and we take advantage of them. I do not know if these coupons are available in Canada. We do get store coupons, but since we switched stores, they do not offer online coupons. Instead they want us to switch to their credit card and the credit card members get discounts. I have my own credit card and my husband has his and we do not want another. So what we have to do is to see whether there is a good sale, and see if it beats the others and whether it is something that we need. Also many coupons are offered by stuff we would not use, so it is mostly for something we would be interested in the future.

If Places You shop have loyalty cards, they can be worth signing up for,as they'll often give you coupons with your membership statements,"Cashback" vouchers based on your spending since the last statement,as well as special offers for members..Tesco (UK)www.tesco.com has a "Deals" promotion where your cashback voucher can be traded for 4X the face value with their partners,so for example you can get a year's roadside recovery service for 1/4 of the organisations own offer..if You're in the UK,sign up for a free email newsletter with www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk and check out the site-thousands of subscribers submit deals, offers and voucher offers they've found and blogs discuss the best ways to save..for Non UK viewers there's much info and tips on day to day ways to save!
