It's taken me a while to get my act together, but at 26, I'm going back to college in hopes of getting my Associates. I'm going to a community college to get my 2-year and would like to eventually go for a four, but that's down the line. What's been stopping me this entire time is finances. I'm no longer a dependant under my parents, but since I am single with no children, the government says I make too much money for FISA. Which is riduclous since my take home this year will probably be about $14,000 - not much at all when you're trying to pay down student loans, debt, medical expenses, and everything else that costs to live. I've tried going through the school, but because I was an idiot when I was 18 and dropped two classes without withdrawing, my GPA is pretty low, so I don't qualify. My high school GPA is 3.3 and I recently recieve a 4.0 in my vocational school certificate program in the area of study I'll be majoring in. Any know of any sites that will help with grants or scholarships - particulary ones for us old folks going back to school or people who don't have that high of a GPA (though I can write a darn good essay if need be :))?

You may not need to do all that If you are broke - like most people are - you will get a Pell Grant. They will usually give you a few thousand dollars a year to help pay of classes and books. I got my Associates Degree using just that and I got money back - a few hundred - every semester.
