The perfect gift

This one is for all the mommys out there. My husband takes the kids out during all the holidays to spend too much money on gifts I will rarely use or wear because he doesn't believe that the best gift he could give me is a day of 'me time'. I'm a stay at home mom and along with my 7, 4, and 1.5 year olds I babysit a 12, 8, 5 and 4 years old. I tell him the perfect gift would be to take the kids to the park for the day or out to my dad's for a long visit and let me sit at home in the peace and quiet. He still hasn't done it but I'm not giving up hope. My question is what is your idea of the perfect gift? Do you want material things such as jewlery, or clothes, do you like candies, or is it just the little things that rock your world?

I love the little things! One christmas that is what he got me. Just a bunch of little things I needed. It was great. Every so often their might be a big thing I want, but mostly I like just a collection of little things that I wanted. A day without the kids would be nice too! I'm a stay at home mom of a 5, 3 and 1 year old. I was babysitting a little boy up until a few months ago. I had to quit he was driving me crazy.

I'm the same way, last Christmas he wanted to get me something bigger than the $20 limit I put on his spending so I made him get me a steam mop :) I love it! He thought I was nuts and when he would tell people what he got me they were surprised I didn't kill him....but, thats just kinda what I like, if you are going to buy me something then make it something I'll use!

We have only been together for about 3 and a half years and have been married for just over two years. He is really good with my older two kids and our son so handling them out and about isn't a problem for him. I don't know if he feels cheap if he doesn't buy me something or what the issue is, but I'm REALLY hoping that he surprises me one of these weekends or mothers day and even an hour right now would be awsome! I've never been one to really like material gifts. Flowers die, I don't wear jewelry really except my wedding band and highschool class ring, and lets face it, I'm female so I'm constantly dieting and that makes buying me chocolate a felony in our house :D

I totally agree with you on that... Mommy time would rock!! I also love hand made things that my husband and son have made for me... i think it shows that he cares enough to take the time and make the item...
