What do you expect from a food server or restaurant management when you go out to eat? What are your worst dining experiences? Last night I went to a local Italian restaurant that I go to/order out from at least once a week. It is a nice place...the front is an old fashion pizza palor set up and the back has a huge dining area that is beautifully decorated. We arrived at 9:15 pm and asked to sit in the dining room. They told us that they weren't seating back there anymore. We were disapointed since they are open until midnight but didn't say anything as we were seated in a palor booth. We had brought a bottle of wine with us and felt kind of funny sitting in the front since we were dressed nicely and planning on ordering more than pizza. We waited 15 minutes before the waitress came over and offered to open our bottle of wine. After she did she dissapeared in the back with our bottle for another 10 minutes. Finally she brought back 3 small glasses of wine and no bottle! We asked where it was and she told us that there wasn't much left so she figured she would just leave it back there. It was a huge bottle of wine, there was no way that even half of it was used in the 3 glasses! She placed the 3 glasses in front of our place settings and two of them had cork floating on top. She walked away and it took some time to get her attention again for new glasses. At this time I also asked her to bring our bottle back out. When she came back the bottle was still 3/4 full! I don't know if she was planning on stealing it or drinking it back in the kitchen but it was rather odd! So we order and we got appetizers and salads etc. The waitress came over and told us that the chef thought we wanted our pizza to be chicken parm pizza instead of a chicken parm dinner and a plain cicilian pizza. We explained we wanted our original order but the waitress said it would be at least another 30 minutes. we didn't want to stay that long so we said that we would take it but weren't happy about it. Okay, so the bill comes and we are charged $36 for this chicken parm cicilian pizza!!! I was first of all shocked that a pizza could be that much and second of all outraged that we were charged for something we didn't even order. When the waitress asked if we were ready I asked her why we had to pay for this pizza when they messed up our order and she nastily responded "well you said you would take it." I paid the bill and the manager came over to talk to me. I explained how displeased I was with the whole experience and he said he will take $10 off the price of the pizza but I wouldn't be allowed to take the rest home! i was so disgusted...how do you run a business like that!? What was he going to do...serve the remaining slices tomorrow?? I paid the bill, left the man with his pizza and told him I won't be back. How do you treat regular customers like that and how do you run a successful business when you have such terrible customer service?!

When I go to a place where there is no customer service or one that really sucks then they lose me as a customer very quickly. I have very little patience for people who do not want my business. Cheers!!

yes the best way to handle that sort of thing is to never go back and it is a well known thing that the word of mouth is a mighty powerful thing, unless a restaurant that is so tardy lifts its game they won't be around for too much longer at least they have been warned and hopefully will fix the problems.
