I'm putting this in "Life" instead of cooking because it's a family activity!
Years ago, I found a recipe to make ice cream using coffee cans but you can use any can with a lid, one smaller and one larger. My boys and I lived in Arizona then and the heat is so bad there that most of our year was spent inside. So one day I found this recipe and we spent a pleasant time rolling the cans back and forth between us, talking and making jokes and laughing. Then, of course, we had some wonderful ice cream to top it all off!
Since I'm not sure if I can post the link without getting deleted, here's the link with the "dot" spelled out!

This is so much fun to make with your kids!

That sounds like a good idea. I will have to try it sometime. We have to drink enough coffee to have some coffee cans. I guess you put the small coffee can inside the large one, insert the dry ice in between and put the cream, sugar, and eggs in the can inside. Right? And it is much better than the kind you can buy at the store, unless it is the natural ice cream.

I checked the recipe and it looks delicious. I would add strawberries to mine. By the way do you have to put the coffee cans or whatever cans in the freezer to get them cold first? I did not see that in the directions, but I remember a show where they did something similar, only it was a guy show and they made it more complicated than it was.

We only had the small coffee can so we used an old, dried up bucket of paint to put it into! Necessity is the mother of invention.
It was soooo good! You can add strawberries or other fruit, too.

I'm glad I could help with the suggestion!
We made another batch after plain vanilla and made it chocolate by added cocoa. Lew threw in a few chocolate chips and Jack suggested nuts. It was delicious!
