Do you have to go to more than one store for your groceries?

It's very irritating to me, but I have to. Kroger's has most of what I want but I have to go to Walmart for the cottage cheese I like and the deli meats I prefer. I go to the local farm to buy most of my vegetables and I get my eggs there, too, because they come from hens I can see roaming around enjoying life and not stuck in a tiny cage like the egg companies do. I have to go to Meijer's to get the hummus I like but I haven't seen it there the last few times I visited. There are more things I can only get at certain stores but I can't think of them right now. I just thought of this because I have to go to the store today and was trying to make just one trip! Does your store carry everything you like or do you have to visit several?

Nope, because there is this one particular supermarket here in our place that always sells all the grocery items I needed. I always go to it with my list and after few minutes I am done. It is easy and fast because i already knew where the items are placed. It is very organize.

That's why I buy most of my stuff at Kroger, I know where everything is and I can get in and out quickly. Unlike most women, I hate shopping!

yeah sometimes i have to especially during the holidays. they dont always have what i am looking for. i ended happening to waste gas to go else where to get it. if only that wasn't the case. things would be so much easier.

The holidays cause me to go to different stores, too. I have some recipes that call for things not every store has to my satisfaction.

I think that's part of the Kroger chain but I've never seen one. It's smart to stay close to home with the gas prices the way they are!

I usually have to go to more than one store, though I can usually get almost everything at one of them. But it costs more to go to this particular store, so I do try to go to the Super Center Wal-Mart and get most of what I need there and whatever I can't get I get at this other store. As they carry more organic products than Wal-Mart, I tend to get them at the other store, unless I go to the natural food store. But lately I just haven't felt up to going too far for groceries. So I end up spending too much for them.

You and me both! I only do it because I don't want to force my husband to. As he is the only one in the work force in our family it's the least I can do.

My mom has to go to different stores all the time. grocery stores for the main food items and depending on what were gonna eat that week is how she'll pick which ones she goes to and then its walmart or target for everything else usually... She complains about it all the time and sometimes i go with her. it is pretty irritating. I just wanna go get what we need and come home. I don't wanna have to go to another store, stand in another line, load the car again, etc. but she also does it like that too is because of how much cheaper a lot of things are at walmart and target..like snacks, cereal, coffee, dog treats, etc. its all a lot cheaper there then it is at the grocery store.

I have to get my dog treats at Kroger. Gus and Cookie like the Dog Gone Deli biscuits and turn their noses up at anything else. Good, cos they're the cheapest ones! I usually shop on different days for different things so I don't have to stand in line 3-4 times in one day!

My Buster, a beagle, loves the generic Milk Bones from Aldi's better than brand name ones so that's one of the things I get there. Also coffee as it is really cheap and I drink so much of it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well Grandpa, I'm picky about my coffee. I drink Medaglia D'Oro, it's Italian espresso. It's about the only indulgence I have. I'll try those biscuits at Aldi's--I got a bunch on sale for $1 a box at Kroger a few months ago and we've only got one box left!

No. I just get all my groceries from Walmart. Sometimes I go to other stores for things, but they are usually just snacks, so I dont really need them and I usually dont get them the same time I go grocery shopping, just when I have a craving for something. Walmart is starting to carry less and less things though, so maybe soon I'll have to go to other stores for my groceries though I hope this doesnt happen.

That's the first I've heard of Walmart cutting done inventory. I wonder if it's just that store or others, too? A couple of years ago Walmart carried some delicious crab cakes that were just 80 calories each. Naturally, they discontinued them because I liked them!

yeah. It's weird. My mom used to work at walmart and she said that most of the things they took of the shelves sold really well. Walmart is kind of a weird store.

I have changed what I'm purchasing because of the high cost of gas. There are things I have learned to do without them. It hasn't been easy, but we are eating healthy, so it sure can't be a bad thing. I grew up without a grocery store visit until a teenager, so think this is a good thing less shopping means more time for other activities. I have managed to do more reading, play my new games and listen to music. Its certainly better than long lines at the grocery stores. Also doing more baking, so know what I'm eating now.

It's always better to make your own things at home than buy them from the store! With the high price of bread, I'm on the lookout for a used bread machine. I can make it healthier and tastier than anything I can get from the store, and cheaper!

Yes. The nearest supermarket to my home is Sainsburys and it sells lovely fruit and vegetables, nuts, jam tarts, baby food, dog food and fruit juice. I carry my shopping bags on my toddler's pushchair. It is good at labeling that some of its foods are suitable for vegans. However it doesn't sell the salad cream that I have to have. You see most salad creams have egg in them and I need one that doesn't have. So I get that from Morrison. I like the large black sacks that Lidl sell. I love to go to Waitrose and the Co Op but they are a forty five minute bus ride away. I buy shampoo and conditioner as well as baby wipes there. They have been made with no animal ingredients and are cruelty free. I sometimes go to Asda because the food is cheap there. They sell cheap baby food and the soya drink that my toddler has. Yes, I get busy going to all those different shops.

You are very discriminating! Good for you, wanting the best for your family! I don't like to go to different stores as I don't enjoy shopping, but I have certain brands and foods I like better than others and for me these are essential and I'm willing to spend the time it takes to get them.

Good hard work you do. I dont have to do that much. We are a big family and my own real brother owns a grocery shop and his shop contains most of the, or I would say 90% of the items of our family requirement. Yes, a a few he does not maintain but he adds to his list of next purchase and we get in in 1-2 days and if something very urgent , definately we have to look for another grocery shop.

How very convenient to have a grocer in the family! Do the rising food prices worry him? Has he seen business drop off because of it? I'd like to know from a grocer's point of view how this economy is affecting them.

When I go shopping I have to go to three stores to get everything I want. I do not mind though as they are all pretty near to one another. They pretty much all sell the same things but it is just cheaper in one than in the other for the same item, so that is mainly why I visit three!

O course I always want the easy way when I shop that's why I hate it when the grocery store is not complete with all things I need. I want to save on gas, time and effort so I would always go the the Landmark of Makati where I believe I practically could purchase everything I need.

Most weeks no, i just go to one, which is usually FOOD 4 LESS (part of KROGERS) however if there is a really good sale going on, i will go to one or two for the week if i need to. Two items that we buy every week are Gatorade, and Soda, and both are quite pricey when not on sale, so if there is a good sale going on for either of those items i will make a special trip to that store. Otherwise i just go to the one store...and am forutnate that i dont usually have to make a trip during the week for somethign i missed..not sure how i get so luck with that. lol

I love Food 4 Less! Haven't been there for years, as they closed the one in Phoenix and when I moved home to Ohio I haven't found one here. I liked all their bulk items, especially since I live alone most of the time and don't need a whole bag of rice or beans or 5 lbs of flour or sugar! You're a smart shopper!

Yes, it's irritating. You're wasting time and gas money going between stores! I like Kroger but it doesn't carry my brand of coffee or cottage cheese and the deli meats are too expensive so I have to go to Walmart--I don't like Walmart just on general principals.

Shopping from different places is a healthy practice. It gives you more options to make a good choice of things you need. Usually you can't get everything you wany from just one place so I usually visit more than one stores insted going to just one place and grab everything i need.

I generally go to one or two for most of my food, but I will go to whomever has the best price and convenience for the types of food that I buy. I go to a small family-owned store that has a lot of the specialty foods that I like. They also have mostly locally grown and raised produce and meat, too, for a good price. Then, I go to Sam's Club for the frozen and packaged foods that I eat a lot of and comes cheaper in bulk.

I love those little family-owned stores. I found one not far away, a little deli, that I am going to try to patronize. I like supporting small businesses.

I don't HAVE to but we choose to go to a few actually. Mostly for sales and the like. But we buy in bulk so we shop Sams Club every other week or so. Then I also like some of the generic foods that Aldi carries so we chop there as well. Then our regular grocery Chain, Cub Food, for specials and coupon items. So I shop a few stores for my foods. Luckily all are within a 3 mile radious of my house. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's a decent distance to go. I rarely have to go more than a couple of miles, either. Aldi's has been mentioned a lot in this discussion! I might go there today just to check out what they have, I haven't visited there for awhile.

I start at Aldi's first and get whatever I can cheaply there, then I head to WalMart and fill in the blanks. I rarely have to go elsewhere, but if I just need bread or milk and don't need to go all the way to town, I go to the IGA that's closer.

I will have to start going to Aldi's again, I've only been there once and the prices were pretty good. I liked the fact that you have to pay a deposit for your cart, there are no carts in the parking lot to ding up the cars!

Meijer's has the most beautiful produce section! That's where I prefer to get my fruit if the farmer's market doesn't have it, their produce and fruit are always nice and fresh and they have such a big variety!

Walmart is a great shopping place for me and my family. It does offer just about everything that I need at a reasonable price. However, every once in a while I will find myself at a bargain store where there might be some kind of special on meat like steaks or pork chops. Still in all, I really like Walmart. Have for years.

Walmart has some good prices but I don't like their meat too much and their produce is wilted and has gnats flying around it. I buy frozen and canned stuff there, though. I have to go there for cottage cheese and coffee, as nobody else carries the brands I like.

i go to a few different stores, but they are all within a short distance to each other so it doesn't affect the gas i burn too much or anything. i am in canada, so i shop at sobeys and superstore. i plan my meals around meats that are on sale each week, so i might have to go to both stores to buy these. then i also go to the local farmer's market where i buy all my fresh produce and eggs, for a fraction of the cost of the grocery store. then i go to the bakery outlet store where i get my bread products at a hugely reduced rate as well.

It sounds as if you're saving a lot of money by planning well and shopping smart! What is the cost of gas up there in Canada? It's gone down here to about $3.53 a gallon but I notice that on Friday it jumped ten cents as it always does on Fridays to ream the weekend travelers. Is that Sobeys the same that make the drinks that are so popular here, the teas and stuff in the bottles?
