Next week I have about 15 friends coming over for the barbecue and so I'm thinking about what to serve. They are a variety of ages, from their 30s to 80s so I need to make sure the food is nice for everyone. I need to make everything in advance as I won't have time to make things while they are here, apart from the meat to go on the barbecue.
If you had 15 friends coming over for a barbecue what you offer them?

The best meal that I could think of right now is Kebabs, grilled corn, grilled hot dogs, barbecue, mashed potatoes with gravy, chicken salad or fruit salad and either lemonade or gelatin with tapioca served as drinks. :)

I like the idea of chicken salad. I sometimes do a cold chicken salad with red rice and lots of black pepper. What is in yours?
How do you serve tapioca as a drink? tapioca reminds me of school dinners so not sure I could serve that!

Well actually the recipe needs sago but I assume tapioca is good enough (tapioca are those little round yummy things that looks like fish or frog eggs right?). Just prepare the instant flavorless gelatin (you can use 2 colors if you like) then cut it in small cubes, then prepare the tapioca, cook some brown sugar diluted in water (about 1 part sugar per 2 parts water) then when the sugar is all dissolved mix all the 3 ingredients and taste. Speaking of tapioca do you know the dessert buko pandan? I think it will be a good compliment to a barbecue.

I've never heard of buko pandan but honestly I have such bad memories of tapioca I don't think I could ever use it to make anything. We used to have it all the time for school dinners when i was a kid and I hated it! I am the same about custard.

You could grill steaks, hot dogs and hamburgers and then have some things like potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans and some kind of dessert with some bags of chips that way there is something for everyone.

What would go into a macaroni salad? I've never made a salad with macaroni before.
I'm loving all these salad ideas!

Hmm.... Grilled chicken, pasta salad, stuffed grape leaves and grilled corn on the cob. For dessert, brownies and vanilla ice cream.

What kind of pasta salad do you do and what are grape leaves? Is that the same as vine leaves? Funnily enough I was in a supermarket the other day and I saw some vine leaves and thought about buying them to make stuffed vine leaves (with rice etc) but I didn't in the end. I'm not sure if I have a recipe.
