Does your family have a family game night?

Our little brood gets together and has a family game night at least 3 times a month. We stick to board games though, the ones the kids can play and win at, plus we keep score and make it a fun evening. I think it helps build character when you loose and when you win. I'd like to hear about your family times where everybody competes for fun.

We don't at the present time. But, I would love to incorporate this into our schedule somehow. What kinds of games do you play with your family?

Yatzee! (sp) Sorry, Operation and other board games, we let the kids pick so they have a say in what we play. We also do card games.

I think that's such an awesome thing to do with family. Something like that will stick for a lifetime. It's a great tradition and brings, or keeps, family close. We used to gather about once a month to play card games such as nerds or spoons. We'd be falling all over each other like Twister. Wonderful times. We now get together every Sunday for lunch. The pack of cards still come out for the young ones. I still don't know how to play "go fish" though.

Spoons can be dangerous! I've still got war wounds from that one.

My kids are grown up and moved away but when they come home to visit we love playing board games. Once every three months my brother and his wife....and my two sisters and brother in law get together for dinner and to play games...we like cranium etc. Now next weekend all of my brother, sisters and my family have a weekend at the lake. We have a tournament of a card game. You play at least three games. Whoever has the lowest score is the winner. We all have matching tee shirts....a trophy....and a hat that says first place. We all bring a gift and everyone get gift to take home...some silly and some just great gifts...even the little ones. There is also boating....swimming....holey board...to play when you are not getting in your games. In the past we have teams to make the meals and you do them by a theme that is picked for the weekend. One year it was Martha Stewart meets Jimmy Buffet.....what a hoot! You dress for your meal in something that matches the theme and there is a prize for that too! It's so much fun. One problem.....one cabin...two bathrooms and 25 to 30 people! LOL...so there's alot of tents and campers on the back yard!

Sounds like a blast! If we had more access to family we would probably do something more extensive but its just us four but I like your enthusiasm.

Our family game is scrabble. It helps us widen our English vocabulary but more than that I love the feeling of healthy competition among us. The joy it brings to each of us and the fellowship as well. The winner gets pampered and the losers will be the slaves of the winner. Ha!ha!ha!

We don't do video games, you can't really learn too much from those games. Not that they're bad but they just don't fit with what we want to play. You should show up with a board game and revive the tradition.

Well we had a family night with games but it was the the a few of the families coming over and the kids played their games together as the adults played theirs usually Poker,Scramble,Yahtzee and Rook for us adults and candyland, monopoly twister and a few others for the kids. We teach you win some you lose some doesn't mean you will always lose or win.

Yes, my family used to have a game night when my brother and I were younger. We used to play "The Game of Life", sadly enough, it really was like life.

You should get SOCOM on playstation, you could play war with or against your family. Wait, probably not a good idea. Just wait till hubby gets back to you.

We do not have family game night. My husband does not like playing games. I do and use to play games with our children. I still would and do when I have some friends over.

None. I envy your brood. I wish we could also play on a regular basis. But I do spend time with my children and nieces and nephews. If they are playing sometimes I joined them. But it is a very rare chance.

Unfortunately no. I wish we did, but hubby cant be "bothered" with games after working a hard week at work. Especially a game that my 5 yr old would be able to play. So i try to make it a point a cpl times a week for my son and I to at least play a game. Usually its candy land, as thats his fave game of all time, stilll to this day. I love word games and well hubby is not quite at the same vocabulary level as I and says he refuses to play cuz he always loses...what a sour sport.

Ahh I remember the good old days when we used to every now and then have a family games night. Monopoly was like the best. Cards, scrabble. I agree that board games seemed to turn out the best, but even charades was cool. THose were good times but since we've grown up it stopped :( I guess noone has time for it anymore
