An hour ago my friend called up and she told me what happened to her the past days...Problems arises left and right,I thought she is just fine until she cried out loud asking to her self "why was I born?". As I was thinking for a topic to discuss, this question suddenly came into my mind, I wasn't able to make some reason why those things happened to her.. At some point, most people ask fundamental questions of life such as Where did I come from?, Why am I here?. and how did I come to be the way that I am? including the question "Why I was Born"? What should I tell her? How can I comfort her?

Yes, it is one of the big questions i have before, but those words only from people who have the difficulty and hard time in struggling life... Remind her that there is Someone who are with us all the time, and He is God who we forget most of the time. I recommend you to read The Purpose Driven Life and all those questions could be answer. From the title itself "all of us are born for a purpose and a reason" and it is for you to find out from yourself.

I agree with you! I for once have read the book and it does help redirect a person to realize what makes a life worth living.

Well, there is reason for everything happening in this world. God knows your past & future, HE may not reveal it to you but HE will walk with you, then you can know the reasons why you are here, & what you have to do here. God himself is able to see if the work for you is properly done by you or not.

People born with a purpose. Whatever it is, only you can discern. But as long as you live, you must fulfill that purpose. And learn to overcome all the obstacles that comes along your way.

It is a tough question yet has the simplest answer that goes deep. WHY WERE WE BORN? Because GOD ALLOWED IT!

Hmmmm this is a tricky one and it's alot harder to answer since we don't know alot about her past from your text. I would comfort her by telling her all her positive aspects and how she could improve her less positive ones, also you could tell her that you're there for her and so are her other friends if she ever gets really down. Hope I helped in some way... Good luck with life, its a strange and wonderful experience one which we all go through differently

That is a question that everyone asks at some point in their life. Personally i am a Christian and that gives me the knowledge that I was created with a purpose and that I am special in god's eyes. But if you are not, then that is really question you will need to answer yourself.

I believe that we are born to learn how to handle the physical universe. In fact, I would say that life is a learning experience for the spirit of who we really are. Who we really are cannot be described with words, it can only be experienced and part of our life lesson is to get back into realising our spiritual nature. An old spiritual teacher of mine once said, "we will never be asked to handle anything that is not possible for us to handle in life. Therefore it is our main lesson to go through life learning from all we experience, whether it be pleasant or unpleasant". All bad things, are temporary and change back to good again. And good things swing back to bad again. We need to look beyond what it good and what it bad and realise what we are suppose to learn from it, then everything becomes good in life. :-)

Hi slepart, I believe most people ask themselves questions like that at some point in their life. We all have our own ideas about it but we can't always explain it to others. Personally, I've been giving that sort of thing a lot of thought lately. I think it may be possible that we have lived before and are here now because we chose it ourselves. It also seems likely that we chose to experience the things that happen to us in life. Most people will say, I would never have chosen this, and that is true with the limited knowledge that we have on this plane, but when we made the choice, we may have been looking at the bigger picture. We do create our experiences, so your friend must work to overcome the negative things in her life and bring about more positive experiences. Blessings.

Perhaps the question really is, "What is my purpose in this life?". We may never know the answer to this question but many people who want to better themselves seek the answer. I believe we were all put here for a specific purpose or perhaps many different reasons. Everything happens for a reason and every interaction with another person is for a reason. I believe there is no such thing as coincidence. This could go on inot a very long post but I'll leave it at that. I believe God know our purpose and reason for being. We did too before we were born. We chose the lives we live. I've come to believe one of my purposes in life is to nurture. When a bad thing happens, I try to find the good in it and accept it as meant to be. I look for the lesson in it. Life lessons are one way to grow as a person.

oh, i've never asked myself such a question cause i feel it too hard for me to find a satisfactory answer. Also you can find a thousand and one excuses for your existance. According to the theory of Buddaism, they say people come to this world to repay, take from others . that's is CAUSE AND EFFECT Anyway, i don't wanna figure it out, but all i need to know is how to make my everyday cout ! enjoy your life.

Well, indeed it IS a hard question to answer....hope she isn't just waiting holding her breathe ha ha. Well, Bad things happen to good people for a reason...the reason for that reason, heck, NOBODY knows, but there is always a varied answer, one being because if god (here we go with religion). God is testing us all, if we can live up to whatever god throws at us, then we will succeed and move on in life with better things to look for. I mean myself, I moved to Calgary from the East coast, all because I lost my job, and there was really nothing else left for me home. My mom was getting sick, and I felt bad leaving her, but I know that I had to grow up and move on. And so I did, where I moved, got a new job, a new place (obviously) and things just got....better for me. I'm more communicating with my family now, and no, I still don't know why I was born, but the scientific answer? Mommy and daddy got it on ha ha. That's why people are born. But it's up to us with what we do with our lives. Don't be negative, tell her that, as well as, it'll get better soon if you keep that up.

That is a hard question. However, there is an answer. She was born because her presence is required in this universe. She was meant to be your friend. She was meant to be someones, daughter, sister or wife. You must encourage her to remember problems do not last forever. She is not going through anything that has not happened to anyone else. It always seems worse when it happens to be you, but she will endure. Be encouraging to her. mbuford

She is born for a very special purpose from God.. She is born to be appreciated and recognized by many people.. even though she is suffering from many problems at the end she will be blessed by God.. She must be brave in facing the problems in her life for her to conquer it.. she has to realized that life isn't always in smooth flow and she must learn to accept that problems may come unexpectedly.. Tell her to have faith in God so that God will help her to solved her problems.. just cling on to what God has promised us for He has plans for us, plans to prosper and not to harm us..

Sometimes when I am depressed even I feel the same thing, I ask myself why was I born? We are born because it was a God's idea and plan he knows what is good and bad for us, he has given us the birth and life and he will surely take care of us, there will be a reason for every one's birth but no one knows the answer for this question except GOD. When she is in trouble ask her to remember the people who do not have any one to take care of them and who are just left all alone, if we think about them we feel our life is much better, we should accept the life the way it comes to us and never fear for any thing if you are correct and honest you will surely come forward in your life dont care for others, live your life the fullest with happiness. Try to live for the people who needs you.

Hello, slepart. It's not bad to question why are you here. It means that you try to find a reason for things, instead of just believing into some stupid answer. She can try her hardest, but in fact she will not discover it. Perhaps this is why we all are here: we must set our goals. We are here to have our free-will, to choose what we want to do, to become somebody. It only depend on ourselves. I can't tell why am I here, but, now that I am, I can tell that I will try hard to be somebody succeful. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Dear friend, I do have heard such similar quotes, why I am here, why all these happening to me, when will he die, so on. I hope those quotes comes from the inner feelings the real pain or joy is automatically or unknowingly come out to those persons they feel very much free to talk. I hope this may some of psychological part of human thinking and behaviours. May those emotions are said out from their inner feelings.

I think that's a question everyone asks themself at one time or another. The answer is different depending on who is asking. I personally believe that we are born for a purpose, but the only one who know's is our higher power. We are definitely here for a reason. We are here to complete some task, to contribute something, to live our lives as completely as we can. We may not know the exact reason, but maybe we aren't supposed to.

Well, to tell you honestly, that's a question that's quite difficult to answer. Because you have to know the person before you can actually say the importance of his/her existence. So if you ask me, I really do not know. I guess you are the only person who knows. But maybe you can tell her that everything happens for a reason. It's not about why she was born. I think it's about the problems and how unfortunate she was to be able to encounter such things. I'm not saying she has bad luck but basically we all experience trials in our lives. Maybe the best thing you can do is to let her know that you will always be there for her no matter what happens and that trials are there to make her strong. God doesn't give us problems that we can handle. :)
