What do you do with your receipts?

I usually keep my receipts in an old shoebox, in case I need them in the future. I'm really afraid to throw them away, because the stores are cynical about them. What do you do with your receipts? Where do you put them if you keep them like me?

well it depends on what kind of receipts they are. for receipts of electrical appliances, i will keep them until the warranty expires. for receipts of clothes and shoes, i usually just throw them away once i've worn the clothes at least once. for receipts i keep, they are in a drawer with my other documents. things like mobile line contract, insurance policies and stuff. i usually try to do house-keeping for them once half-yearly. if not, the drawer will be full in no time. cheers ;p

Usually I just throw them away. I need to start keeping them for my major purchases though. I had bought a camera, and they needed the date and such that I bough it to pull up the receipt in their system, because I was going to try to exchange it. I went through my bank info, but wasn't sure which purchases were which. But I do keep all of my hospital bills and info like that.

I pin them into this holder thingy I have. Important ones only. If it is clothing, I bring it home, check it and throw the receipt away if the piece is alright. Ditto with supermarket receipts.

Generally they get shoved in my purse, and after a cpl days when i know the item isnt faulty or dont fit, whatever the case may be, i then toss them in the garbage. The only time i keep receipts for a long period of time, are bigger purchases, things over 50 bucks or so, otherwise garbage it is..lol.

If I buy something major like a camera or computer something that cost a lot, I staple the receipt to the inside of the owner's mannual. That way if something happen and I NEed it I know where to find it. Soon as you throw it away you need it. or if I know I'm returning it, I put it in the box so that it is there when I return it.

I usually categorize my receipts into 4. First and top priority would be for equipments and purchases with warranties. I tend to group them altogether so I'll know where to get them if needed. Next would be Receipts from credits cards. I keep them for reference in case the credit card company acts up. Third would be subscription receipts. This is where I keep my monthly payments to providers. And last but absolutely the least, the usual purchases. fast food, supplies, or almost anything consumable I buy. I usually just throw them.
