There are many genres of anime. Parents should be aware of them and only let their children watch the appropriate anme. For example, I find anime like Doraemon, Hikaru no go very educative. Hikaru no go introduces the olden Go game to kids. Many Japanese kids took up Go because of the anime. It's an extremely difficult game to play and it requires a lot of intellectual skills.

AHHH i see we have a anime disaproover well thats perfectly fine i just want you to know that in japan where the anime is created it is made for a older/middle teen / adult age just wanted you to know this but me being a kid at heart still loves to watch tom and jerry flinstones and some cartoons on cartoon network but back to the anime yea if you would watch the japanese episodes of the anime that is dubed here it is much worse and you can see first hand that it is made for an older age group ps im 16 and love the older cartoons from the 1970's

cartoons and anime, whatever you call it it's still a cartoon show and it's done the way a cartoon show was made. still, though the audience was the elder ones there is still violence.

... and how come you are sure that anime were created for older viewers. maybe older viewers just enjoyed watching it then they claim that it was made for them. but the reality is the creators of these socalled animes were attacking younger minds to be violent.

but see thats where your wrong in the subed japanese anime cartoons they curse in about every fight they get in to and there is alot more blood than what you see when its released here but i also watch what is called dubed which is the kind they allow here and you never hear a curse out of their mouths maybe a sh*t or damn and i want to know what kind of anime are you talking about not all anime is a violent as you think

What do u consider as classic cartoons?? Sailormoon, doraemon, and walt disney types?? They are all my favourites since young till now, and personally, i will actually prefer to watch them as compared to anime because they are much more natural, and not so much of real life looking..
Because that's what cartoons are about, being cute ^_^ lol

Okay there are a lot of violent anime out there yes but there are also a lot of violent CLASSIC cartoons too. You don't call Wile E Coyote getting blown up by Acme products violent? Cartoons can be as violent as anime too you know. And anime can really be educational too, especially the sports-oriented ones haha. There's even an anime that gives tutorials on how to make bread in a special ricecooker. . .don't knock it till you've tried it. And Hamtaro is an anime too. . .I don't think that's violent lol. Anime comes in all sorts of genres and ratings just as classic cartoons do.

but there is no blood shown when Wile E Coyote gets blown. what i was pinpoointing here is the showing of the scenes which are not good for the kids to watch. anime tutorials are good.
