What kind of person could kill their own child?

I agree! When I was in college there was a lot about it on the news, like the lady who drowned her children in the car? I though there must be something wrong today that this is going on so much so I researched a paper for it. Was I shocked to find it was not a new occurence at all. People have been doing it for years! It actually dates back to biblical times when women would sacrifice their children to the fire god molech. I can not imagine it myself. I think there must be a complete break with all rational and human thought to do something like that!

A lot of times, I am sure it has something to do with the Mental status, or stress level for anyone to ever do something like this. I just could never imagine someone going to the lengths to have a child, and then doing something like this. And then to try to usually blame someone else, or something else in the process. I often wonder how people cannot see the Warning signs for someone, and try to get them help before something like this happens. This happens to people of all types so you cannot say it is only for certain people. All I can say, is those of us who believe in the Power of Prayer need to Pray and Trust God that somehow more help can be available for people to where they will in turn reach out to someone for help before ever considering something like this. Because even if you go to Prison for Murder, how can you live with yourself knowing it was your own child you killed?

Idk what kind of a person could do this. Obviously some1 w/bad mental health. You hear about it too much. We've seen way too many stories on the news about women going nuts & hurting or killing their kids. we'll prob never understand why or how they could do that. it's really terrifying & horrible. i have a 6 yr old son & couldn't imagine hurting him esp not on purpose. it's sad.

As awful as these stories are to hear, I am glad that they get publicized as they do. When I was younger, it was next to impossible for my father to gain custody of his children, despite the fact that my mother had spent time in prison and in a mental institution. The prevailing attitude of the courts (in the early eighties) was that children belonged with their mother. But there are some women who DO perform these acts, and at a minimum at least now they are being reported. Fathers today have an easier time gaining custody of their children, given the appropriate circumstances. As for the women committing these acts, I truly don't believe it's insanity. I think it is selfishness to such an extreme degree that they lose touch with reality. Born from incredible selfishness.

Yah people are nuts. I remember a few years back when that lady from Texas drowned her kids in the bathtub 1 by 1. I think she still got off with insanity which is insane. Just another loop hole.

maybe they are out of their mind, and they are doing that such kind of horrendous act you know, and some of them do these out of wedlock, and that's why they come up to their mind to abort it,,,and its their last resort to do, to solve their problem, but that is a sin, and god will not forgive all those doing such act. and maybe they are crazy for doing such horrible act.

Yeah that is also the question I am asking why are there parents that thinks that way. I think there are many nowadays that have problems the way they were brought up by their parents too. The abuse to children has also risen that's why when they become parents too they have a different view on what or how they are supposed to act when they hae their own children.

a man who is already mad may commit this type of work.if they can look after their child who tells them to born them.an very very ill mannered person can do this works now days the news are coming of all such man.i think that they would rather die before killing their child.

they are insane. flat out messed up in the head, because no SANE person could ever kill their own child! like you, it just blows my mind, i cannot comprehend how they can even consider the thought, much less go thru with it. the world is going downhill and humanity as a whole is right there with it in my opinion.

I don't know how these parents can kill their very own children. I am a mother. And I know the hardship of bearing a child. And taking care of them while growing up. So where the hell these parents get the strength in getting the life of their children? Evil that is.

A person who would kill their own child is a psycho path a nut or just plain evil and theres never an excuse for it.

I can never understand how someone can kill anyone or anything. I mean everyone has the right to live. Only a person who is insane can carry out such things. These people need alot of medical help.

i feel that only an insane could kill her own child....human feelings are more powerful...when a person tends to kill her own child,there she/he becomes an animal else mad...a normal human would never do this...it's because of our affections,we've been called human beings..when it is lost,she is no more a human...

I am from India. And there have been many incidences in past here when due to superstitious beliefs people have sacrificed other people. they make this sacrifice to please the god. I wonder what god would be pleased by the act of taking an innocent life. In some cases parents have sacrificed their daughter or son to the Gods only to get more wealth and in some cases sacrificed daughter to have a son. We need to have more awareness among people in India to make them realize that praying to God is OK but acts like these are not only against God but also the society. Even if God forgives them the society wont be in a position to do so.
