Is your memory so bad you forget to take your Ginko Biloba?

It is a proven fact that ginko biloba helps improve your memory. I do manage to remember to buy it because I see it whenever I'm in the pharmacy. My problem is that I forget to take it! What good can it be if the reason you need it is causing you to forget it? Can anyone help me with my dilemma? Do you have any suggestions on how to remember to take it every day? If you take it, how do you remember to take it? I promise I'll read your responses because I'll see them in my email inbox! (If they could only put my ginko biloba in there! Sigh!)

LMAO!. i have never herd of this stuff before. BUT i am ganna look it up and see if i could possibly try it.. i could use it. my memory gets bad somtimes.and then switches back to good just to switch back to bad . haha somtimes i find myself wondering what i did yesterday or last week. or were i put this or that. I suggest writing on a peice of paper and sticking it to the first wall you look at in the morning or even on your bathroom mirror:).. so then it will remind you everyday to take it... or get an alarm clock and set it for the same time everyday for you to take it.... haha you should mix some up in the geeses food. mabey theyll remember there supposed to fly south .:P

Good idea about the note! I'll put it where I keep my nighttime meds. Maybe the geese really DO need it! LOL I liked the "get 'em drunk" idea better, though. That would be hysterical to watch!

I know this Medicine Ginko Boilaba, actually I am attached with homeopathic medicine field, so we have this medicine in liquid base, which called Ginko Boilaba mother tincture, this medicine helpful for improving the memory and concentration, improving the capacity to overcome the symptoms of auto-immune diseases. And the other side of this medicine resulting in partial-paralysis and loss of memory. And the most important actions is it has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. It is found in America, South Africa, china, Germany and Japan, and rarely in India.

Wow! That's a lot more than I knew about it! Where would I find Ginko Boilaba? So, it helps to control symptoms of auto-immune diseases as well? I have lupus, so that would be a definite plus! I have fibromyalgia which causes "brain fog" which is why I try to improve my memory and concentration. The anti-inflammatory property is also good to hear because of both diseases I have. I am taking a glucosamine-condroitin-boron drink supplement called Elations and it is definitely helping to eliminate the pain in my joints! I can remember to take that because it's a drink and tastes great! Just like fruit punch! But, as for the possible adverse reactions to Ginko Boilaba, or ginko biloba, are these partial-paralysis and loss of memory reactions common? What is the risk?

Put a reminder on your bathroom mirror that you will see while you comb your hair or brush your teeth. If you drink coffee in the morning, but it on top of your coffee maker. Put a reminder somewhere that you will have to see it.

Thank you! I think the bathroom mirror would be the best place because I take it at night (or at least I do when I remember). When I go in there to brush my teeth, etc. before bed, I'll see the note. Great idea! Thank you!

Yeah, I think that was a little "hiccup" in either your computer, or myLot's programming! I have not thought of trying the little pill box! I have a weekly pill box, but even that doesn't work all the time. I usually carry a little one in my purse with me when I go out. I'll keep some ginko in there! Thank you!

I think, you should write down what you'd like to do, then you will look what you do timely.

I usually do write things down. I even bought a 'day-minder' just for that reason. But I sometimes forget to look at it! I will eventually get everything sorted out to where I look at my reminders! Thanks so much for your suggestion.

I have been thinking about taking Ginko Biloba. Can anyone tell me if that stuff really works?

Since I keep forgetting to take it, I really can't tell you if it really works or not. The best thing to do is to ask your doctor about it.

I am definitely getting up there in years at 56, but I also have fibromyalgia which is usually accompanied by something they call "brain fog" which negatively affects my memory. I just wish I could remember to take the ginko biloba! I believe it works by increasing oxygen to the brain.

Sounds like you need a pill box that has the days of the week on it. Monday - Sunday. Put your meds in there and keep by something you do in the evening, like putting your glasses away or turning out your light or even on top of your pillow. It will help you remember to take them. Hope that idea helps.

Thank you for the suggestion, git. Unfortunately, I've tried that. Well, I've tried the weekly pill box. Didn't help too much. Diane raised an excellent point... one of my medications is known to cause memory loss! I didn't know this until she pointed it out to me. I'm sure I can remember to ask my doctor about cutting this med in half better than I can remember to take the ginko biloba! It might be that I don't need the ginko after all! We shall see!

Good day... As we age we can expect some deterioration in our memory. Studies had shown that using our brain more often like reading and critical thinking helps deter or even improve our memory.

Thank you. Yes, I've read about that. I've always considered "learning" a hobby of mine. I love to learn new things. Whenever I hear something new and interesting, I will learn all I can about it. I read a lot. I play memory games. My husband likes to watch TV when he isn't working. I'm not like that, unless it's something very interesting like The Learning Channel or The History Channel, something like that. Diane (above) mentioned something that may help me more than the Ginko Biloba! One of my medications (Xanax) that I take for severe panic disorder syndrome is most likely the cause of most of my memory loss! I'm going to discuss this with my doctor and see if I can cut the dosage in half. If I don't have any panic attacks and my memory improves, I won't need the ginko after all! I will still continue to stimulate my brain, because that's what I do. I've always enjoyed mental stimulation and, hopefully, always will.

That is so ironic and yet so typical. When I need to remember something, I usually just write it on my arm and sometimes I leave a note for myself on the fridge. Maybe u could try leaving a note for yourself in a place that you can't fail to see it (ie fridge, bathroom mirror, tv, dresser, etc.) Another way you could remember is by maybe getting a planner. And if you fear you'll forget to check your planner, set an alarm to remind you.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I like the note-writing one especially. I'm going to try that, but I am also going to talk with my doctor on Monday about reducing the dosage of one of the medications I take, Xanax. Diane (above) mentioned to me that it can cause memory loss! If I can get the dosage cut in half, or get off of it altogether, and my memory increases, I won't need the ginko!!! I hope that's the case!

Hi Mentalward, I also forget something in the daily time when there are so many things coming together. And I also feel that is hard to conquer, but do not so upset, everything can be solved just need time. Maybe you can try to make good use of the note pad,you can write the reminder on it and put where you can see easily.Of course, you can prepare more than one piece, that's no quantity limit.Or you can put it near the clock or other things can let you setup the termly time reminder. When the clock ring,I think you will go to stop it,then you will see the note pad la. Hope that helps to you. Glad to myLot, Janice

I do use a "daily planner", but I forget to look in it! I am going to place the ginko biloba near my other medicines that I take at bedtime. I will also use your suggestion of writing several notes! That's an excellent idea! I also like your idea of setting an alarm to go off. I carry my cell phone around with me all the time, so I can begin to set the alarm to go off at a certain time each night, around the time I usually take my nighttime meds. I do seem to remember best by association. I can associate the alarm with ginko biloba. Great suggestions! Thank you so much! Also, welcome to myLot! I hope you enjoy it!
