Hi, As most of you know, I have five dogs (in my avatar) and a couple of them will make weird noises while they are asleep, like they are dreaming or something. Their feet will move like they are trying to chase something and they'll moan almost as if in paid. But they are not in pain, because I've went over and touched them and they'd wake up and like "what are you doin?" and they are fine. I also have two that will snore terribly when they are sleeping. My husband says since the CPAP helped me quit snoring maybe we ought to get one for the dog. HaHaHa Does your dog or dogs do any of that? Happy MyLotting, Char

My 2 labs stay outside so I have no idea. I used to have a doberman that stayed in the house. He snored terribly & chased rabbits every time he fell asleep. Later I had a German Sheperd/Golden Retriever mix that broke wind all the time. He loved going up the stairs just in front of you & let her rip. He always stopped & looked at his butt like what was that???

well the furry kids haven't asked for the car keys, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. They never cease to amaze me!

Thank you for the wonderful laugh msmell! I took care of my best friends pitt/lab mix and you talk about FART!!! Man they could use her for a nuclear weapon!!!! She didn't like sleeping out in the family room so I finally relented and allowed her to sleep in my room. The stench from her farts even drove the cats out of the room. I even had all the windows open and it didn't help. I swear that dog could have killed a bull elephant with one of her farts!!! The worst part is that I live out in the country where the dog could have gotten attacked by raccoons or mountain lions so I HAD to keep her in the house (I don't have a garage, besides she would have barked all night. Her owners let the dog sleep in bed with them...) I always get a kick out of people that complain about human farts, I always figure that they haven't smelled anything until they get hit with a doggie fart!

LOL This is funny because as I'm sitting here typing, I am listening to my pugs snoring. Pugs are well know for snoring, snorting, sneezing, etc. because of there smooshed in face and considering I have 5 pugs, there is never a dull moment around here. My hubby says that when he gets up in the morning for work it sounds like a bunch of buzz saws in the bed because I snore too!...lol. He says it is like we are having a competition to see who can snore the loudest.

I remember the boxer we had when I was a child doing 'running' motions whilst she was asleep. She used to get a look of pure joy on her face, as if she was bounding through the wilderness with the wind in her fur! She also used to make woofling and snuffling noises in her sleep. I guess dogs have good dreams the same as we do!

I have 3 dogs. My cockerspaniel snores some nights but it's cool because he's such a great dog. The doctor said that it isn't a medical problem. All of my dogs have at some point or another had what appears to be nightmares, where they will whimper a bit or growl. It's only once in awhile though.

I don't have any dogs, but my one year old kitten snores when's he's asleep AND when he's awake sometimes. When he's sleeping in his bed on the floor next to my bed, sometimes I mistaken his snoring for someone in another room in the house snoring. He's a crazy little kitten. I wasn't aware that cats could snore!

i used to have a dog and i love him so much. he mostly snores when sleeping. maybe because he's overweight. and yes, he does that "running while sleeping" thing also. looks like he's chasing something or someone's chasing him. my mom says maybe he's dreaming. scared of what he's been dreaming about, most of the time i wake him up and he goes back to sleep again. anyway, you have really cute dogs! i wanna have one again someday!

Where do I start? Since I've had dogs and cats all my life there has been a LOT of snorers and noise makers. A couple of the funnier ones are Rockey and Little Bit. Rocky, who has gone to the doggie part of heaven, was a real kick. In the middle of the night he would wind up and howl in his sleep. We got to the point that we knew when it was coming because my Siamese cat KoKo would have her hair start standing up on the top of her head and you knew that by the time it reached the tip of her tail and all the hair was standing on end that Rocky was going to howl. We would have him in a motel room and he would never fail, he would wind up and howl like a banchee! He was a Rottie, so you can figure the volume of the howl. We finally got to the point that when we traveled with him we would ask for a room in the back away from everyone so that we wouldn't disturb them. My present pair, Monica and Little Bit are a pair of characters. Little Bit is a strong snorer...and I swear that the crate they sleep in vibrates at night. He is a mini dachshund and weighs in at a whopping 9.5 pounds and he could out snore my dad if they had a contest. I told the breeder about it and she laughed. When she is with one of her females when the female is giving birth the rest of the kennel forgets that she is there and soon the place sounds like 50 buzz saws going off at the same time. Monica, Little Bit's lady friend sleeps in the crate with him, and there are nights that his snoring is too much for her and you'll hear her give him a "roll over you're snoring" snarl. Before I got used to the pair I would wake up to his snoring and her snarl and laugh like crazy. What makes it even funnier is that they taught my Siamese cat Willy to snore, and I have him and his brother at the end of my bed at night, Willy trying to out snore Little Bit, Monica snarling at Little Bit and Khuay, Willy's brother jumping on him to wake him up and make him quit snoring. It's like a three ring circus at night. I only have the two dogs and four cats, but there have been many interesting nights with dreams and snores! LOL Toni

Dear friend, My dogs rarely snore or make sound unless some other reasons. I do not know why they do that but I had seen few dogs doing that. May be they need a better dieting or exercise. May be a good vertinerary doctor could guide it better. I had heard other dogs yowling or snoring making others a sleepless nights.

Hi, Well they probably could use more exercise. Sometimes it seems all they do is sleep. As far as better, I highly doubt that. lol They are on the best dog food I could find for them. And it costs enough too. lol Thank goodness they don't yowl.. We'd have to do something if they did that. Happy MyLotting, Char

I live with two dogs. The little one which is a miniature dachshund snores every time she is asleep. The big one a chocolate lab sounds like she is wheezing when she is asleep. The dogs also wake up quickly when I approach them.

Oh gosh yes! We had two cocker spaniels who snored all the time! Both would snore up a storm and they'd both dream and twitch their legs or even their mouths as if they're barking at something. lol It was funny to watch. They've crossed over the Rainbow Bridge now and we miss them something awful but we know we'll all be together again some day.

We have two dogs. The smaller and older one is a chihuaha/terrier mix. Jake thinks he's tough and barks at all the big dogs in the neighborhood when we're walking. When he's asleep, he also somietimes barks, and often moves his legs like he's running. (I wonder...can dogs have restless leg syndrome? Or are they really dreaming of running?) Our almost year old puppy - Zeus - is a boxer/hound dog mix. I think he's about 65 pounds or more by now. Cute "little" puppy he's not anymore. Both doggies sleep with us. Jake doing his sleep running. And Zeus SNORING loudly. My hubby says that sometimes Zeus and I coordinate our snoring. While he's breathing in, I'm breathing out...so there's a constant snore sound going.

I don't have any dogs. I have two bettas. They sleep in the same room where I sleep. And, thankfully - to the best of my knowledge - they do not snore. (LOL) Actually, it might be interesting some time to observe the habits of sleeping fish. (I wonder if fish actually have sleeping habits... like your dogs do?) I used to snore all the time, but I recently lost lots of weight, and the snoring seems to have gone away, too.

Hi my friend, Thanks for your response! I used to have 7 beta fish. They are so beautiful!!! They got to be too much to take care of. I had 3 ten gallon tanks split in two with 2 fish in each and one five gallon with one in it. I just couldn't keep up with all the cleaning and changing the water. And if I remember correctly, they are very quiet sleepers. lol I think if I would lose some weight, it would probably help my snoring as well as some of my other conditions. lol Happy MyLotting, Char

Hi Char, I love dogs so much, and I have two dogs in my house. They are so cute just as yours. They do not snore while they sleep, but make sounds sometimes. I always think that dog is a kind of life style in this world, they also have minds and dreams. But their minds and dreams might be so simple and direct, not so much complicated like human. Maybe they were dreaming their mother far away from them or the things happened before or even just the food they like. So,I think that's a normal reaction from the cute guys brain nerve center. But as to the snore,I also think that is similar to the human's. Glad to myLot, Janice

Hi,CharRay, Our Schnauzer snores like and old man, pants very loudly, and his breath stinks. Our Italian greyhound likes to cuddle up for warmth. She will sleep with the schnauzer, or under the blankets with me, against me. It is hilarious to watch her dig under the covers with her nose, her rear end up in the air, then when she gets her nose in just right, she tosses the blanket up and slides in underneath. The poodle who found us this summer is around a year old (according to the vet) and he is like a baby. He lays on his back in the crook of my arm. His head is back with his chin in the air, his front legs curled at his chest, his back legs relaxed and spread. His tummy is in the air and you have to rub his chest until he falls asleep. If you stop, his churns his little front feet in the air. As soon as you start rubbing, he stops. We do this over and over. He's hilarious. Once everyone settles quietly in and starts sleeping, the cat will creep in and curl up on my legs. She waits until the dogs are asleep because they are all jealous of her and each other and can't stand it when I pay attention to the cat or the other dogs. They all go nuts and push their way in to lay on me and be petted and they all think they have to put their faces near mine and they nearly suffocate me! The cat runs off. Then, she'll come back again when they all fall asleep again. They all take their turns with the stinky farts and I keep the ceiling fan on all night!

Are your schnauzers loud barkers? That is the one think I don't like about my schnauzer. He barks at everyone and everything and when I let him in and when I let him out and when he wants back in and . . . . on and on and on.

They are dreaming... probably chasing that squirrel that you won't let them chase in real life. I have a Great Dane who does that in the middle of the night and if we are positioned wrong I can be removed from the bed by his kicking. As far as, the "what are you doin?" look... my theory is they almost caught it before you woke them up. All of my dogs, I have 3 snore like buzz saws. I would complain but I've been told I snore too and I haven't heard them complain yet.
