Many of us live our lives in the fast lane. We have our dreams and ambitions, and we put in all our efforts in trying to reach there. I have often felt we seem to be striving for too much and at too fast a pace, thereby making life seem or made shorter. At the same time it may be due to the increased competetiveness and the cut throat attitude that is making us strive that much harder for us to reach our goals and ambitions. Share your thoughts please.

you asked "Are we trying to do much too soon?"yes we are trying to do too much too soon,,,,,,why,,,,.about this i have different view. once i was sitting in a seminar and a person was speaking about 'how to achieve success'.In his lecture he said --first my aim was to get a good job,,and i achieved that --then my aim was to have my own company,,and i achieved that --then my aim was to generate this much revenue,,and i achieved that --Now my aim is to generate this much revenue this year.. ---------------------------------- but this whole seminar made me thought that like this achieving his goal,,he will make one more goal..and will never have satisfaction.(which is most important thing) So why to run like mad people even behind first goal.why not try to understand this will also not give any satisfaction. i believe AIM IS AN ENDLESS PHENOMENA. and people will remain running blind like this until they understand this fact. they have become too materialistic that they have forgotten the moral ethics of a human. If it remains like this our life on earth will end too soon i think. ----------------- so thats about my views thanks peace.

i won't personally say that i am trying to do too much too soon. what i do is i give my best in every situation there is. if i win, i will surely be happy knowing that i deserve it. if i lose, atleast, i did not give up at all and i did give my best. perhaps, it's not just my time to win in that stage. for me, life isn't a contest. everyday for me is an opportunity to do somethig better. i don't care if i am doing things too much or too soon. i just try to do things the way i want to do them.

I'm really glad that you have taken this approach to life and do not treate it as a contest. It's only in this way do we truly appreciate the true meaning of life. Many thanks for responding and I do wish you all happiness.

Yes we are Alok. All through our lives we are getting ready to live, getting ready to make sure that we live a more comfortable life. But guess what, in the process we are not living at all. We are getting ready to go to a reputed B School, get a good job, skip from there to new better one, getting ready to get married, have babies, have a family and finally when we are old we get ready to retire. And when we do that we realise that we haven't lived at all!! We are living on the edge certainly.

Very True ,Mimpi. With the pace that we set in trying to achieve so much we are not living at all. Inspite of everything, we never tend to slow down but are forced to do so at some point and unfortunately we may have just gone over the edge by then. Thanks a ton and have a wonderful day.

It is most definitely due to increased competitiveness etc. Society places considerable pressure on us all to be better, faster, stronger and smarter. And because there are so many people out there all wishing to succeed in life the cut throat attitudes happen by default. It all comes back to the references to Darwin's "Survival of the fittest" theory discussed in your other post. We either fight to join the parade or watch the parade pass by!

James, No doubt it is the pressures of society, and in many ways relates to the suvival of the fittest. I only think we tend to overdo it many a time and the end result being a faster burn out. At the end of which you really wonder if it was worth it. Thanks

Hi alokn99! Yeah, I think we are trying to do too much too soon. There's so many things that we want to accomplish in life and we focus on how to get it and get there that sometimes we actually forget to enjoy the journey. I just recently turned 21 but I feel the pressure of life taking over me and I can't start anywhere because I feel it is too much and I don't know how and where to start. I have a lot of things that I want to do, want to achieve, want to have, want to be, but I don't know which one to do first. I know I have to start at some point and I have to pick one to get to the other but sometimes when I think about it, what will happen after? My plans to achieve them all is already set, I just have to start. But in my plans, it just goes straight to my goals. No extra curricular stuffs or anything. Just the straight path that I THINK is the right way to be successful. I don't know, it just depresses me. I have to stop thinking too much also.

Marababe, I'm glad that you atleast recognise it. Don't let it depress you and don't get caught up in thinking about them too much. Take one a time to start with and ensure you are on the path. Getting there will happen. You have all the time in the world. So get the most of life while trying to reach there. Thanks

there is a saying: "if you can do it now, why do it tomorrow?" of course, i am not saying that everything can be achieved overnight. but if things can be done now, why wait? in our life now, as you said that in most part of our lives, there is a great increase in competition. so whenever we see the chance, grab it. Thanks neil, The pinciple is certainly good and needs to applied judiciously. My concern is that we seem to be wanting to do everything today like there is no tomorrow.

There so many wonderful things in the world, you will found more wonderful things as your time of being in the society, they are tempting us,but our life is limitary,we always feel we must get more wonderful things as fast as we can.We shall recognize one view,we achieve goal step by step, and one by one.We don't have a fickleness,it's bad for us,and many people in the society had had this fickleness,i think we can think more and slove it by ourselves.
