I have been to France, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Norway. I live in Europe which is full of tiny countries so it has been easy to visit all of those places.
Have you visited all of your neighboring countries?
If so which countries are these?
If you haven't would you like to visit these countries?
If so which ones?

When you come from Australia, this is very difficult to do. However I've been to New Zealand a few times, on business, as well as vacation. I've also been to Fiji a couple of times, and have cruised around the South Pacific Islands. What a relaxing way to take a vacation!
Now I'm living in Thailand, I'm sad to say I have only been to Laos, and a short trip into Burma. There are many interesting adventures awaiting me in South East Asia, but I'm saving those for when I retire at the end of next year. Then I'll have plenty of time. Now I try to visit my family in Australia, or my wife's family in the north of Thailand when I have holidays.

Many Australian people concentrate on seeing Australia because it is so large and varied so see no other countries. I am glad that you have traveled so extensively and have been to New Zealand, your next door neighbor my many miles. The South Pacific Islands are so gorgeous, Samoa is my favorite. It must be fantastic to live in Thailand and have so much of Asia on your door step. I hope that you have lots more interesting and enjoyable adventures in South East Asia. It is not long until you retire so that will be very exciting.

I live in Canada and I have been to the States and before that I was born in Scotland, moved to England and then across the Ocean. But there is no countries close to Canada except to the States and at most it was the Northern States. I would like to go across the Ocean and take a rail tour over England and maybe go to Wales. I would also like to go to Mexico, but it looks like I will never get there the way things are going now.

Wow! I think is it lovely how you have moved countries within your lifetime. My brother-in-law was born in England, moved to Canada and stayed there for most of his life, now he lives in England. His four brothers all live in Canada. I hope that you travel around England and Wales by train and go to Mexico one day. I haven't been to Canada yet but plan to go there. I have been to the USA three times and to Mexico twice.

I do not remember much about England. I was three years old at the time and all I remember was being scared by a snowman, and being on the ship, and having the top bunk, and my brother was in the bottom bunk with mum and he was sick. I know because I caught it on the train going to Vancouver.

Three years old was very young so it would be wonderful for you to see England now that you are grown up. It must have been quite a journey by ship and I know from personal experience it is awful to be sick when you are traveling. Thanks for such a fascinating response.

Hello, Maximax8.
It must be great to be travelling to so many countries. I'm sure you have enjoyed many of those trips. I would like to travel in the future too, learning other countries' culture and things like that... It must be amazing. I live in Brazil, so here we have Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Equador, Argentina... Those are the countries near. No, they are not very famous around the world, but let me tell you something: South America countries are not very well developed, but they have an amazing culture. Each country here has their personal culture, and I mean it. They have their tradition and their festivals, that's why there are people visiting them so often even when they are not in the first world.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Hello, Munhozmib. Yes, it was great to visit so many different countries and I continue to travel to as many different places as I can. I haven't yet been to South America but it is at the top of my wish list. I would love to see Rio, the waterfall between Brazil and Argentina, the lakes of Chile, Patagonia, cruise around the Galapagos Islands and do the Inca Trail in Peru. Yes, the culture in each country is each South American country most be amazing. You speak Portuguese in Brazil so can you speak any any Spanish? I went to Portugal last year and liked the sound of the language. Best wishes, Maximax8

Oh, yeah, it must be amazing!
No, the language spoken is different. Portuguese has some variations considering the Spanish languages. We do share some words in common, but usually a brazilian wouldn't understand what a chilen says. I can understand VERY LITTLE about it, but it is only because I hvae studied a bit of Spanish.
And the Portuguese from Portugal/Brazil is like the difference between English from Britain and from the USA.

When I liven in America I went to Canada and Mexico multiple times. Now I live in Israel and have been to Jordan and Egypt. Lebanon and Syria are forbidden to me so I cant go even if I wanted to. They are not safe at this time, so I wouldn't want to go.
I also went to Cyprus and Turkie. They are kinda close to Israel. A lot of people take short mini vacations there.
I've also been to Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Sicily. This is all as an adult. As I kid I went to about half of Europe, but that was when I was young so I don't remember much.

It is a shame that it isn't the Paris of the East anymore. I know another country, Montenegro that used to popular and then the war sent all the tourism away. I went there in 2003 and think Ex-Yugoslavia is lovely. I have heard Syria is mad if a traveler has been to Israel and won't let them in. I think Greece is a superb country so I hope you go there soon.

It is excellent that when you lived in the USA you managed to go to Canada and Mexico multiple times. It is wonderful that you have been to Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan and Egypt. I fully understand that Lebanon and Syria are not places that you can go to. When I was in Singapore I met a girl from Israel and she has to fly to Thailand because she couldn't go through Malaysia. I went to Israel and Jordan in 1998 and had a great time.

It is a shame that Lebanon isn't what it once was. It's currently a puppet state of Syria. There was a time when Lebanon was considered the Paris of the Middle East.
I really want my next vacation to be Greece. It's just a quick flight or an overnight boat ride away.
When I go to see my folks in America, I hope I can go to Mexico again. They live in the LA area and it's not that far to Mexico.

I imagine that Egypt is hot this time of the year. The nearest I have been is Israel and Jordan in the summer months one year and it was 40 degrees in the Red Sea resorts. There is so much history and an interesting culture in Egypt. It certainly must be a fantastic place to live.

I live in Canada which is a huge country and has 10 provinces and three territories. I have visited all the provinces except Newfoundland. I still need to visit 2 of the territories, Yukon and Northwest Territory. Because the country is so large, for instance it is 37 times bigger than Germany a lot of Canadians never get to see their whole country. I have been to the US a number of times and also Mexico. So, I guess I can say I have visited my neighbor countries. I can relate to what you are saying about Europe. It is so easy to visit different countries even in one day. I have visited various European countries also.

You are right; those living in the far North are challenged as far as travel is concerned. Either they are native people who are born and live there, lots of time on isolated reservations or they are people from the South who work there for a company, usually three or four weeks on and three or four weeks off, so when they get home there is lots of stuff to do. Then there are people who move up there and stay and work there for a time or forever. I guess they travel when their vacations are coming up.

I am pleased to hear that you have visited most of Canada's provinces. Wow! "It is 36 times bigger than Germany" shows demonstrates its size to any European people reading this. Yes, all Canadians should make an effort to pop over to the States. However I guess those living the far north might not do much traveling. Mexico is such a lovely country to explore.

Hi dear friend! Yes, I do hope that one day I could see all of Europe. I hope that you can visit our country and there are really a lot of beautiful beaches here. That will be great and maybe, we can see each other. I do wish to see South Africa such as the coastal towns of Hermanus, Cape Town, Knysna and Durban. And most especially, enjoy a safari in the oldest and best Wildlife Park in Southern Africa -- Kruger National Park. I have heard so much about it and hoping that I could see personally all those animals that I only see in the Animal Planet. It would really be great if all of us can do a lot of traveling and see so many beautiful places all around the world.

I've traveled to Canada, but I've only been to three provinces there. Quebec, Ontario, and flew to British Columbia on the other side. I would like to go to Nova Scocia and then to the rest of the provinces (they have 10). I have not been to Mexico. My parents have, but I haven't. They loved the Ballet Folklorique and the Pyramids (except walking up them, they were pretty old by then).
I was in Paris, France for Easter way back one year in the 70s. I bet it has changed a lot.

I think Aussies go overseas for a long stretch because the longer you stay away, the less it costs per day due to the prices of airfares. Plus it is a long flight to travel halfway around the world. Most people I know have been to at least one foreign country, and in fact, many of them were born in one. I loved Europe, and I hope that one day I will be able to take my daughter there. I hope you get to travel here one day too!

I have not made it to Canada or Mexico, yet, but will get there eventually. Visiting another country in Europe is of course like traveling to the next state here in the US. Let's see, I lived in Germany, Austria, and the US. I visited France, Monaco, Italy, Lichtenstein, San Marino, Vatican City, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slowenia, Bulgaria, and Jugoslavia (when it was still in one piece and named that).

Unfortunately, I'm American and we only have two close neighbors, Mexico and Canada. I grew up in Southern California and a trip to Mexico was a monthly thing. I married a Canadian and I've been there several times (and will be again in a week).
I also lived in the Dominican Republic, South Africa, and Israel at various points in my life (I'm not counting Vietnam).
I've also visited the Bahama Islands, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and St. Maartan, as well as Russia (which I love). The longest time I've spent in the UK is a little over an hour while I was waiting at Heathrow for a connecting flight to Johannesburg. My wife and I hope to go to Denmark (she's half Danish and has been there before) shortly. They have a good asylum program in place for writers. I'm a writer.

I went to Latvia this year and looked into getting at Russian visa so I could go to St Petersburg. However I needed an invitation, a form about my toddler son, a visa for me and a visa for him. It would have cost me £300 with an agency or I would have had to to go to the embassy in London which would have cost about £50 return by train. I hope to go on the Trans Siberian Railway and when I do that I will get visas for Russia, Mongolia and China with plenty of time to spare.

Believe it or not, a Russian Visa is not that expensive and not that troublesome. It was $75 for mine and took one day. An American Visa (for a non-American) is $100 non-refundable) and can take up to 30 days (if they approve it).
You can get a Russian Visa for a maximum of 30 days, unless you pay extra for a multiple entry or business visa. Their standard tourist visa is very straight forward and easy to get from any embassy or legate.

I live in the United States so we only border two countries. Canada, which I have visited although I was banned from there for awhile because of my activism they said I was in a riot which is ridiculous because I'm in a wheelchair and it would not be safe for me to be in a riot. I've been to protest marches, but riots, no. Well anyway, after I got the Canadian government to get its head out of its behind I've been back to Canada. I can only go under escort of "responsible Canadian", actual phrasing I'm not making this up.
I have never been to Mexico although I would like to for the simple, selfish reason that I like their food.

I hope that you go to Mexico and eat some delicious food. I have been on marches myself and know that the police don't like this sort of thing. I am a teacher and I don't go anymore because I don't like the worry of getting bother from the police. The Canadian government was unkind and unreasonable towards you. Deciding that you can go "under the escort of a responsible Canadian" is mean of the officials.

Not ever since I came to Canada. I have never visited the US. But I visited most of the ones around the other places I lived in.
You're right, of course. Living in Europe makes it so much easier to visit other countries around, they're so close compared to in here. I remember I used to go to Spain for a coffee LOL
When I was in Africa and Brazil the other countries were a bit further, but we did visit some of them, and it was really nice to be able to experience so many different cultures and places.
I don't think I ever visited Ireland which is a pity, it's a beautiful place. But I lived in Belgium for some time. I remember at that time every one was so polite. They even had this little paper pads and pens in the telephone booths if people needed to write something down, and the most amazing thing is that they were not stolen LOL

I have both visited and lived in many different places due to my dad's job. It was a mix of something really good and not so good, since it was hard to make friends knowing I wouldn't stay there forever.
When I was in Africa I lived in Angola, and we lived in Morocco for a short period of time. WHile in there I had a chance to visit a lot of other countries but the ones I remember the most are Kenia and Mozambique. Bever visited South Africa though - at least that I remember.
I had a change to travel trough Europe both with my parents and alone and I covered most of it during the two times I traveled with Euro rail I think it was called- Ireland excepted LOL -.
I also visited Timor, right beside Indonesia and Macau which was part of Portugal and is now again part of China.
I have some friends in Rotterdam and Amsterdam but nobody stole our bikes while we were there - I guess we were lucky. I loved Sweden and when I was younger I thought I would like to make my home there, but not for long because on that same year I visited Greece and made my final decision hehehehehe too bad I ended up in Canada

Yes, the people in Belgium are polite and it wonderful thieves don't steal from out of the phone boxes. It is different in the Netherlands where criminals steal bikes.

We have two countries near the US. Canada and Mexico. I used to go to Canada all the time when I was a kid with my Stepmom b/c she had a friend or cousin that lived over there. My favorite part was riding the ferry between Michigan and Canada.
I also went to Mexico the year I was 15 with friends of the family. It was a long trip (we lived in Dallas) and I got severe sunburn but it was fun. My Mom warned me so much about drinking their water and watching what I ate that I wouldn't eat anything other than Nachos and drank nothing but milk. LOL We went to a type of farmers market there that sold everything frome dresses (I bought one with a huge blue flower on it...no idea what ever happened to it) to special fruit drinks called Aqua Fresca...a fruit drink they make down there that is out of this world.
