My Internet Explorer keeps bombing on me. Sometimes when I get online (I have dialup) there is no home page open because IE did not open one and nothing I do will bring one so I have to reboot.
How long does the download take for dialup? What were the changes you noticed with the updated version?
Thanks for any insights you can share.

I tried IE7 a few months ago and it made it impossible for me to do my online coursework at Santa Monica College, so I switched back to the previous version.

How long it take on dial up I dont know. I do say that I love the new browser and no problems with it. It is a lot like firefox with tabbed browsing. I have both and use IE 7 more.

I haven't downloaded IE 7 yet. I have been using Firefox and love it. I also have IE 6 and will probably download IE 7 one of these days.
As to your problem, I think Oldbuddy's advice about getting a CD is probably your best bet.

I have the new explorer. Only because my hard drive took a dive. The computer place install the new explorer. It is different than number 6. But I have gotten use to it. It isn't to bad once you figure out where all the buttons are.

I have downloaded and am regretting it now, I am constantly crashing and having to do a cold reboot, I hate it, it is quite common for this to happen also, here is the release notes from Microsoft http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/aa740486.aspx
I have tried to download an newer version, but I am still having the problem, yesterday I think I rebooted 5 times, it is very frustrating. This week I am going to download Explorer 6 and go back so that I can actually get online. By the way, I have DSL connection and crash all the time, so it does not matter that you have a dial up connection other than it might be harder for it to find. You might try getting rid of 7 and going back to 6 to fix your problem, I have researched and cannot find any other solution.

I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 on dial up and it took a little bit over an hour.
As someone said... you probably need Windows XP Spack2 for it to work properly.
I have had no problems with it.
It took me a while to get use to the new toolbar and find where everything was.
The major difference with IE 7 are the tabs... which I love. Apart from that... I see no difference with IE 6. I think the main changes in IE 7 was dealing with the security issue.
I think it is always a good idea to update your computer with the latest version of everything if you can afford to do so. The internet changes everyday and you have to keep up with it.
Despite all the negatives comments on the Net about Microsoft... Remember this... 80 per cent of internet users... uses Windows and Internet Explorer.
Only 10 per cent of people uses Firefox.

I did download it but had so many problems I had to remove it from my computer and go back to using Internet Explorer 6. Everytime I tried to close a window it would say it wasn't responding and every window I had up would end up crashing. It was very annoying.

yes I have downloaded it. I actually downloaded it in its beta form and I love it. I have had NO problems at all with it. Dial up would take forever but it is doable, start the download and walk away from the pc... the more you do on dial up the slower your download is going to be.

I use Firefox mostly, but still use IE for some surveys because they do not work on Firefox. I didn't mean to upgrade to 7.0 because I've heard complaints but it was one of those upgrades they sneak in on you! heh I'd love to know how I can go back to 6.0! Can anyone tell me, please message me.
