I was in class 6th when computers was introduced as a subject in my class.I would have been around 12 years old that time.Though, it was only basic, explaining about the hardware architecture of computers and DOS, that was the first time, i started to learn about computers. Then it was after 2 years when windows were finally introuced. Even my brother bought a PC in 1999, so that facilitated me in improving my hands-on practice ont he computer. Though, i wished to take computers as a subject in my 11th standard, but didn't take it as i was focussing on IT entrance. And it was finally in 2001 only when i was around 16 years old, when i came across internet and started using it? you can say, i got addicted to internet that time. But anyway, i have got habitual to using computers now and being a software engineer, i can say i am proficient in using computers..
How about you guys? When was the first time, u started using internet? At what age did you start using a computer?

ya, learning internet becomes too expensive if you are using it in cybercafes. If you free access to internet, then you will get to leanr more. Well, i learnt .NET during my college and other programming languages like C, C++ and Vb and altogether a different OS when i came into job but i seem to have forgotten all of them now

In my case, I was using the computer at 7 years old way back 1996 when the most hi-tech OS then was Windows 95. I remember I was addicted in playing Dyna Blaster. That's my only reason to use the computer. Then internet came and I first had of it when I was 14. I was afraid of it then because rumors are already spread that it's addicting but I was forced to use it when I was developing a thesis. Then the successive years were a paradise to me as I use internet for everything until now. That's it.

The year: 1984
I was in junior high school, and my parents gave me a Commodore 64 (DOS and a few games), which hooked up to the tv. At that time it was awesome. Ha.

I started using computer way back in high school which sometime in 1988 which makes me about 13 years old. At that time, we have use a diskette in order to boot the computer. What a time that was. I used learned basic programming too when I was in high school. though I pursued a different course or career when I reach my college day, it was still a time that I consider very good experience.

I just could not imagine how the PC would be like before i came into senses. I pursued an altogether different career than what i am today. I did my graduation in a different field but landed up in a job of a Software Enginner.

I started learning computer when I'm in my 4th year high school.. Same as you, I learned only some basic computer skills.. Then during my 4th year high school, my dad bought a computer for us.. Then I begun learning computers through myself by surfing anything that I can see in the computer.. When I got into college since my course is Education, so I choose computer as my major.. Then I learned so many things about computers.. Now, I can say that I am computer literate because I can type fast without looking in the keyboard, I am expert using Microsoft Offices, making videos, editing pictures, and surfing from the internet.. But technical problem of computer, I admit that I really don't know how to deal with it..

Its good yaar that you can type without looking at the keyboard. I haven't developed that habit yet though i have been using computers since a long time now. I can fix some minor defects related to hardware problems or i must say, i can identify the problem but not always i am able to resolve them. Hardware Engineering is completely a different thing and it requires a lot of knowledge about architecture and hardware for resolving such issues.

Hello vipulchawla,
Well I got a shock in store for you, I started to learn how to us the computer just two months ago at ripe old age of 55, yes I have never touched a computer before and I was scared of it and I'm still scared of this computer. My friend got me on to networking and put me on to Mylot and I'm too scared to venture outside of Mylot, it is hard to understand the computer language but I'm getting there.

Well I didn't have a computer class when I was in school. The First Computer that I had was a Commodore 64 and I bought it brand new when they came out back in the early 80's. as for using the internet I was on line with BBS's when they were out which was probably the for-runner of the internet. I first used the internet back in the early to mid 90's before it became popular.

I think I started teaching myself basic html/css when I was around 12 or so. I don't even remember having a real computer class until 10th grade (and that was only for a semester at that).

I first started using a computer in 1983, and it was my first year in college. We didn't have the internet back then, and out operating system was BASIC. I learned COBOL programming in 1984, then I got married and had kids, and was out of the computer scene until 1994, when we got our first home PC. We didn't have internet on that one, but we were able to access dial up bulletin boards. In 1998, we had to get a new computer, which had dial-up internet. In 2001, we got cable internet and then my husband and I divorced. He took the computer, so it was 2003 before I got another computer, but haven't been without a computer since then. Had cable internet from then until March of this year, when I switched to dsl.
