Ebay Alternatives

I was wondering if there are many GOOD international Ebay alternative auction sites.
Now Ebay is so highly populated it is harder to pick up a bargain and smaller sites should still have that advantage ;)

The thing is, if you haven't heard of them, how good are they?
Everyone's heard of eBay. It's a global brand. There are undiscovered tribes of natives along the Amazon that know what eBay is. They founded Paypal, so you know there's a secure transaction route. You know there's measures in place to deal with grievances.
And then there's the other dozen or so companies who try to be eBay. Can you name any offhand? I know I can't. And neither can the people who want to buy your stuff, or the people you want to buy from...
