I am not a confident person by nature at all. Since I often felt socially isolated over the course of my life, success and praise have usually been the two factors that motivated me. I am not sure how much confidence they gave me though. However, I can definitely say that excessive criticism drags me down. I lot of people say whey people don't expect as much of you it makes you more confident because it takes pressure off of you but that has never been further from the truth with me. I cannot take adversity and it makes me give a very poor performance relative to ability because it makes me feel demeaned like people don't have any faith in me. So people have to at least show some faith and emphasize the positive, and don't try to change the overall person that I am in trying to make me better... I would say that probably makes me more confident than anything else.

I am not very confident in most ways although in some ways I am becasue I know that I can do things that people expect of me. I think you just have to have faith in your own abilities and know that you can do what you set out ot do. Even if you are not confident in a situation you should act like you are so that you can make others think you are confident even if you truly dont believe it about yourself.

I have an odd sense of confidence. I will use schooling as an example. I usually tell myself that I did bad on a test even if it felt easy, that way I know that I am going to get a good score no matter what. When I say, "Good," I mean, "Better than expected." I tend to do very well on tests anyway. I think the fact that I am good at testing is my confidence. I am not sure if I will have that to fall back on while I am in college, because I will be entering an entirely different environment.

I derive my confidence from God. I believe that he is always watching over me and loving make and making sure that I am protected and well taken care of. So, what could I have to worry when God is doing so much for me? I am confident in speaking my mind and confident in my actions and decisions because I know that even when I make mistakes in my desicisions and actions, God's love will not falter or stumble, but he sill always be there, and it's OK to mess things up.
