Rank in your interest/category: Is it important to you?

I've noticed the rank and wondered about it. I don't know what it really means. Does it have something to do with how many times you've posted in an interest/category or what quality your posts in that category were? Or does it have more to do with how recently you've posted in a category? Now you've got me wondering even more. LOL

To be honest I never pay attention to rankings, it never bothers me at all, they are just statistics and I am usually quite slow on the uptake anyhow, to me it's all about discussions, making friends and responding to my friend discussions and that's it, figures, money doesn't bother me here. I know some people follow the rankings religiously but not me, makes no difference to me if they are there or not, just random numbers thats all they are to me.

Well, I do notice this most of the time if mine is posted. A lot of the time, unless it is in a Catagory I am posting to all of the time, my interest level usually either stays the same, or switches a little from time to time as well. It would be nice if I could be in the top for all of them, but some of these I do not post in enough to give me a chance. I just do what I do and hope people will rate me accordingly, and have things go from there.

Hi jofeli! Oh that does not really bother me at all. Actually, I don't even look at it. haha..I just do what I enjoy most and that is to be with friends here and to participate in their discussions and eventually, earn as much as I can. haha.. Take care always..God Bless!

When I first started I checked my rankings everyday. Now I'm only mildly interested and check it now and then. However, I'd be immensely pleased if I ever reached #1 rank in any particular interest.

I'm ranked 4 out of 7,234 in the Questions & Answers category, and so my name and avatar appears on the leaderboard for that interest. I don't know why it's important but it does encourage me to start more discussions in that interest to see if I can go higher. Usually I don't notice my ranking when I take part in a discussion, but I think I would feel rather proud if I saw I was at number one.
