well, let me give this disclaimer, i am not a racist, but i am prejudice, if don't know the definition look it up there is a difference.....and i feel that being prejudice is what makes us all different, right?
anyway, i can't stand when i call a company or establishment and they give me that press 1 for engish or 2 for spanish.
i feel that since we are here in america, a elgish speaking country that everything should be in english and spanish or whatever other language a option.
when we go to other countries, whatever language is spoken there is what you get, and only the very popular vacation spots learn english and only to make sure that we under stand how much to pay them and make sure we will return to bring more of our great american dollars.
just step back and take a look and the places you may have visited, when you go to mexico, and it is found out you don't speak spanish they will speak english to you but tell the bag person in spanish to take your bags up and don't be slow cause he or she will get a good tip, or depending where you are in canada they will thank you for buying their souvenir and count your money in french, and this is the kicker....go right to mcdonals, buy your favorite value meal......and the spanish lady behind the counter will count your money in spanish and tell you to have a great meal in english, but she is there to fill a void because, spanish speakers and others, feel that they don't want to or don't have to speak english b/c it is not required beyond the question they had to answer to gain citizen ship, if they weren't born here....is this fair to americans?

I feel a bit different about this issue; I actually welcome new languages, I think America needs to stop being so centered in one language. Being in the public school system I have noticed that our language programs are horrible, I wish we had more language influence to make these programs better and more needed. America has no official language by law, so I don't think we should be so upset about it, and we should welcome it, because our children will probably learn another language in the future, and that is a great opportunity. We are a country of immigrants, so we all bring in something different and it makes us better, and I expect no more.
