Hi everyone. I hope that someone out there can help me.
My hubby bought me a great Ryobi bench grinder for my crafting. Well I don't actually have a need for the grinding attachments. I got muslin buffing wheels for it. Well the problem is that the guard gets in my way. I first tried the 6 in wheel since it has 6 in grinding wheels. That one didn't allow me enough clearance below the wheel; again cause of the guard. Then I tried a 4 in wheel. That one gives me plenty of clearance below but none on the side. I am so frustrated.
I need an arbor extension so that I can have the buffing wheel away from the guards. I can't seem to find one. Does anyone know where I can find one?? Please I really need to use this thing. The things I been buffing with my Dremel just don't have the shine of the buffing wheel.

Take the guard off but know that a grinder will not make the best buffer since it rotates slower than a buffer.
all the best urban

I have it all set up and working now. I could not deal with something that spun faster than this puppy. I have a hard enough time keeping my grip on these things. That said you need to be careful with polymer clay as it heats up rather quickly when being buffed. The heat can soften the clay and make it dull rather than shiny.

I don't use a bench grinder for polishing, I have a lathe, no guard on it, foot pedal, variable speed. Much easier and better control than a bench grinder. I use it for polishing my polymer clay beads/pendants, and also my metal jewelry. If you can exchange the bench grinder for a lathe you'll like it much better.

Too bad it is too late to return it. It actually was a Christmas gift but I was trying to get my hubby to put the buffing wheel on.
Obviously he never did so I did it myself.
I want it specifically for my polymer clay. Nice to see someone else who likes it as much as I do :)
