Paris Hilton's and John McCain's Moms Agree...

These two mothers, those of both Paris Hilton and John McCain appear to be pretty much in agreement about the now infamous McCain campaign ad showing Britney Spears and Paris Hilton on the screen before showing Barack Obama. Mama McCain says it's stupid. Kathy Hilton, as one may expect, had considerably more to say. Considering she is not only the mother of one of the young women who were trashed in this ad but also had contributed the maximum allowed by law to McCain's campaign I'd say she has every right to be unhappy. Here's the full statement made by Kathy Hilton as it appeared in the Huffington Post (she chose this, not me!):
I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.
End of statement.

McCain said this: "We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it."
Would you like someone "having fun and enjoying" something at the expense of your daughter? I've read here on myLot as well as elsewhere how some people don't consider this ad derogatory towards the two blond celebrities and to that I say HUH??? At the very least it was clearly meant to say these two girls are celebrities who have never accomplished a thing, they have no talent or intelligence and the same could be said of Obama.
Here's my own very humble opinion: I'm no fan of either Paris or Britney and realize they've both had problems in their lives recently which they've brought on themselves. However, that doesn't give any political campaign the right to use them in such a cruel way. If the McCain people wanted to indicate that Obama is just a celebrity with no substance, or whatever it is they wanted to say, why was it necessary to publicly humiliate someone else who is in no way connected to the campaign or politics at all for that matter?
I'm interested in what you parents and even grandparents here feel about this situation. Forget your personal feelings about Obama if you can and forget about all the nasty things you've heard and read about Britney and Paris. How would you feel if your daughter or granddaughter were used by a Presidential candidate in this kind of manner?

If McCain used my daughters in the way he used Britney and Paris, I would go on TV and blast him and his campaign advisors as many times as I could. It was a very low-class and stupid idea, making McCain all the more stupid for approving it.
McCain is desperate. He is not impressing the majority of women with anything he has said so far, so he is desperate enough to use anyone to make a point. And what was the point, anyway? It sounded like a five year-old child complaining that their little brother had more toys than they did. Totally stupid and totally disappointing.

I'm actually not a big fan of either girl myself but I will say that Paris really isn't the idiot she portrays on TV. I had waited on her a few years ago with her then b/f and she was nothing but nice and spoke like a normal human and not an idiot, in her defense.
As a mother, I don't think I would have had as much class as Kathy Hilton. I would have definitely had a few more choice words for McCain. He deserves them after this. There are bigger issues and fish to fry and he wants to play the celebrity card. Give me a break!

I do not feel the comment should have been made at all. It was very unprofessional.
