I don't understand why there are people out there opening topics over and over again asking how many posts they can make in a day. Can I make 100? Can I make 200?
Is it possible? Have you ever tried?
I think if you are going for this kind of quantity you are losing a lot of your quality in your responses. I haven't been that active the last couple of days but at least I know the few responses I've made are good ones and mylot rewards you for that. I know for a fact that if you make 50 quality discussions (I'll use numbers because hey, that's what you guys want to see right? hard numbers ) you will earn a lot more then 200 one line posts. Why?
Because you will take time in posting a good picture along, because you might get a best response, because you might add smilies along and because your comment will be more appreciated by mylot and you stop to add keywords.
I did a count of how many posts I could make in an hour and it was fun, but I never rushed into short messages just to get a bunch. If I do write a short message it's because I feel all I had to say about it fits in there and it's good enough that way.
Happy posting, take your time.

I don't see why someone would want to post a 1000 posts a day.
If you want to do so you are not in it for fun and a little extra cash, you are trying to make a full months payment which is close to impossible unless your referrals do the same thing. Thanks for adding!

I think a lot of people try to set records for themselves when they first start here. They want to see how much they can make if they just ramble on and make numerous posts that don't really say anything or else have been posted before but they didn't bother to look. Once they see how the earnings work I think they ease off a little because the hours it would actually take here to really make money are staggering. it is suppose to be for fun, not that the money hurts, but I think it is those people who think they are going to get rich quickly are the ones making or trying to make a few hundred posts a day. me personally, I couldn't sit still long enough to even attempt it.

Thank you for this very descriptive response mscott .
I agree, I would get bored after such long a time in a row at the pc, even though I can be on for a couple of hours that wouldn't be enough to reach a huge payout and it wouldn't be fun anymore either. Also, I'm not just on mylot when I am on after some time I switch to other sites I enjoy, switch back or open them in different browser windows.
Mylot isn't making you rich but I agree that the money doesn't hurt. If we are here anyway we might aswell get paid for it, but it shouldn't be just for the money because that just won't work and isn't worth the time and effort.
You need a gazillion active referrals to have a big income on mylot and that's pretty darn hard.

I agree, having loads of spare time sure is one of the things you can't miss if you want to have a big amount of posts here. Mylot is fun but very time consuming.

I am not a newbie to mylot and I must say I have not tried to set a goal and see just how many posts i can make but I have tried to see just how many people repeat the same topics over and over again just because they choose not to search and see if the question may have already been asked. I have realized that it tkaes more time to try and type the short ones because you get tired of typing and eventually look at mylot as a place of boredum. If people take the time to actually add quality as you say, it makes the "job" a lot more interesting and rewarding.

I most definitly agree, if you take more time to make a good reply it will be much more rewarding and you'll feel like you are adding something to the mylot community. Thank you so much for adding to the response!

the number of posts you can make in a day depends on how fast you respond to a discussion. maybe you can respond a 100, if that's it, then very good. i can't even reach 50 in a day.hehe but it's okay, i'm quite busy with work anyways and am just happy being here with all the interactions that i am getting, and the new things that i get to discover from other people!:) well, you can be right, when you respond and just respond to make a lot of posts there is a possibility for a not so good outcome with the quality of the posts, but if you make sure that you don't sacrifice it, it still can be a good, quality post after all.

I agree that there are people who can work fast and keep quality, I just don't think it's for everyone; and that's ok, as long as we have fun in here we should all be fine [em]happy[/em}. Thanks for adding to the discussion.

I think they are just curious how most of us here makes such a big number on the right side of our usernames. lol Well, it is a good opportunity so we can boast how nmany post we make in a day. hahaha But seriously, they just want an inspiration so they, too will be encourage to post more in a day.

I'm not to sure that's the reason with all of the cases but I think some of the cases might be about curiousity. Thing is one can also read and search for answers when curious, you needn't open duplicate topics over and over again.
But yes, I do agree that some of the cases might be about harmless curiousity.

there are two qs involved in tis... that is quality and quantity... if you wanna go for quality the post will be less but i feel is a better one rather than meaningless posts... quantity of posts depend on the individuals but i feel quality is betetr than quantity

Thank you, that sounds fair. I agree everyone should feel free to write in the way they feel best about, as long as they abide to the rules of mylot.
Have a great day!

I've never even exceeded 50 posts a day. My usual number of posts, based on a 3 hour logging at mylot, is 30-40. There were times that my responses were just a few sentences, and there were some which I believe I really thought of. It all depends on the topic, If I find the thread relative to me, I'll surely file my entire thoughts into it.

That sounds fair, some topics aren't suitable for long responses and it's not likely to blab on with these things if there just isn't more to add to it.
If someone asks you how you drink your tea or what colour you like you will not post a reply of half a page long.
Short replies can be quality too, it depends, you are right about that.
Have a great day.

I too don't know how they do it, making so many posts in one day? I am lucky if I can manage to make 10 posts a day yet alone 100!
I open a discussion and start reading and you are there for awhile reading what the others have to say and then you leave your comment and this sometime does take time and if you are like me you like to read all the responses first before posting myself :)

I think that's the way to go, you can't give a proberb response if you don't know what you are replying to. There is no way of making this many posts without making them shorter, less descriptive, skipping tags, skipping photo's and have mad typing skills and loads of free time.
I can't stress enough that we should try and reach quality not quantity.

I completely agree with you! Quantity is only good if you also are posting quality responses and discussions. I remember seeing someone posting about how they made like 50 posts and only made a few cents or something, well, I looked at the discussions they were starting and stuff, and they were, I think--ALL one liners! And that simply doesn't cut it here. I have made 50 posts here once, and made way over a dollar. And it wasn't from one liners, that's for sure! I do sometimes set little goals for myself here--but I never sacrifice quality just so I can post a million discussions per day! It's really a waste of time to do nothing but one-liners. I have had time when I gave short replies, but even then I try to either come up with 3-4 lines minimum. I admit, I just write a lot--that's how I am everywhere, but I'd think that people would see after a day or 2 of posting 100 one-liners that they would be better off going for more quality and less quantity.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I totally agree with you. I don't think it's possible to get through to people who think they can just drop in and run up their post count with one-liners, thinking they are gonna strike gold! I mean, I have made a nice amount in my first month, but it's been hard work--and if I had come thinking that all I had to do was post 1000 discussions and watch the money come in, well, I probably wouldn't have made payout yet!

Thanks so much for responding to the discussion.
I do think these people might have good intentions at first but seeing that a site can make you money can turn people into greedy people who try to make money of mylot easily. There are people out there who join mylot just for the money, I'm sure of that, but I can also see why someone might get greedy if they see people getting big payouts (they don't see what you have to write to get them).
Posting oneliners sounds boring, I love writing and that's why I'm here; so basicly just like you . I allways get that I write to much (exams etc), I like to be very descriptive.
Have a great day!

Hi Cyberfluf, I like you have never really counted or worried about the number of posts or responses I have made in a day, I just do what I can in the time that I am on myLot for and for me I have always placed what I have felt are quality discussions and have tried to give indepth responses too in answer to posts, by doing this it has bought me some very good friendships. The only time I ever really answer what is your favourite colour type questions is if I am very tired and can't get too indepth in my responses or when I am answering a new person discussion as I like to do that to help encourage them and feel welcomed at myLot. Huggles. Ellie :D

Great response Ellie, I agree that certain discussions about favourite colours and stuff can be good when you have little energy levels and still want to respond to something. I have made low impact discussions myself but I like to be more descriptive most of the time. It does make you some good online friends because you actually take the time to read each others stories and provide support, tips and help. Have a great day!

hi cyerfluf I am so tired of those discussions. I post what I
want to post, which is my own business, and makes me a bit more money as I can use money but also love to enjoy my friends here and care and share with them, better than money and money is just the frosting, my friends come first. lets have discussions about interesting things that even make us,horror of horrors, think. and those things about how many posts makes a lot of us yawn instead whjich does not help anyone. I bypass them myself. The number of points and posts and earnings is nobodys business but
my own.

Straight to the point there Hatley, thank you so much for a very descriptive response and a very clear opinion. I think it's a good thing that you put an interesting conversation with friends above the fact that mylot can earn you a little cash on the side; this shouldn't be the main drive allthough it's a nice extra (I like how you call it the frosting ).

I have seen that discussion started a couple of times. I try to ignore it. They are loosing quality over quantity if they try and do that, at least I think so too. Once I realized it was quantity over quality I try to write at least a paragraph with every response I give, or at least write what I need to say. For the most part I really try not to write just a sentence or two. Occasionally it will get on my nerves when someone only writes one sentence, because they aren't taking the time and really writing. I realize that sometimes you just have nothing else to say but some people do it over and over again. I only write one sentence if I have nothing else to say. One day they will learn.

Agreed, there isn't much we can do about it if they don't want to hear it.
Sometimes it does pay off to point out to people that there are certain rules or that longer posts will work out for the best in the end and are more fun to write for them, and for us, more fun to read.
The other day I was reading a newbie discussion and it had a referral link in it so I tried to point out as kindly as possible that this isn't allowed on mylot.
He instantly responded that he was sorry about this, loved mylot and didn't want to break any rules he just wasn't aware yet and wanted to remove it. I told him that it isn't so bad for one time but just try and not do it again; it should be easy to stay clear from referral links .

ahahah.. maybe they have no other topics in mind and asking things like that is just the easy way to have idea for discussion. Many also would reply to that question that is why many are asking even if it keeps on repeating on and on...well, then...mine posting, it depends upon the time I can spend here. If I have enough time, I can post enough.. Good luck

True, the amount of time we have should determine our number of posts and responses, not how fast we try to get them all typed in.
It might surely be a lack of ideas posting these discussions, but on the other hand I can't blame someone for running out of ideas... but why make the same discussions over and over again? Add something from yourself don't just change the number.

i think it can be done if you devote alot of time to it. the most i have done is respond to about 60 posts and that is only because i stopped to tend to my kids and get things situated around the house. but if you have nothing to do and just take sometime i think you can get it done. i try to post about 6 or 7 lines per response because you get more for quality. i find it easier to post alot for a response if the discussion is about something that really interests you and you can actually say something worthwhile. some people just go through posts and type one line sentences saying anything because they are just trying to get some earnings. but i dont worry about my earnings i post because i like to type and i like voicing my opinions about different topics.
