Preparation for the examinations is a stressful one. One needs to have a complete study of the portions.I have seen many friends who just keep on reading the same notes. But they still cannot come out with colours when the examination results are announced. The reason is mainly the stress they undergo while preparing for the examinations. Stress, change in the sleeping cycle, disrupt in eating patterns - all results in a break in the immune system. This can result in any illness during the examination or forgetting the lessons while writing the exam. How about you? Have you ever felt very stressed during the examinations? How did you handle the situation?

I do not agree with you at all.I feel very stressed one day before an exam.but this is what works for me.lemme tell you there are many students in my class who study for all the semester and still they get less marks then me,even i study only one day before exam.According to me It is a very wrong saying that one must not take tension in exams,,I personally believe that one cant study with full concentration until he is under stress of exams.I don't know if it applies to others.
but i am very happy with this.because more tension i take ,,more i study, more i get marks,
that is what applies to me
take care.
peace.

well sir i think we are going a bit offTopic,,
i just said that the stress about which this topic is made ,,do not bring any bad results for me,,rather it helps me.I give my hundred percent whenever i am in tension.
And about study,,i never said that one should not study whole year,,i just gave an example of mine that,,the stress factor works for me so much that even i score more than many bookworms.
one thing more,,what i do is not cramming at all...
it is all about how quickly i learn in stress.
thanx

Though i agree some people may work best under pressure, but not all of us are capable of handling stress so efficiently
And one must always have a balanced approach. Otherwise u r cheating urself!
As you said that you can study a day before test and still score higher. Of course, that is way possible but do you think that kind of knowledge u have gained is of any use?
I don't htink so... because knowledge comes with practice, experience and continuous enforcement of ideas throughout the year rather than cramming it a day before examination... because there's a shortcut which may not always lead to the right destination withf ease and then there's the right highway that would always lead to the road to success

I have never been stressed when writing the exam ,because my main teacher said that:It's useless to be nervous when you are writing the exam,if it does good for you ,tell me,let's be nervous together.
so,I think i only need to do my best in the exam without thinking of the outcome.
it will be my pleasure if any of you would like to be my friend.

Well it has been a long time since I took an examination. I do believe that stress and nerves do play a role in hampering the ability to concentrate. Concentration is needed for a test and if your head isn't in it then it will hurt in the end.

To be stressed before the exams, to feel anxiety , to feel the impending doom coming ur way... i say these are all normal feelings. One should be aware if that those feelings of anxiousness developing into full depression that would be debilitating to ones mental, physical and social health.
However, that said, let;s come to ur second part of the questioon ... how would one handle or shud i say lessen the burden and the stress associated with it?
Though i may sound like a hypocrite because i too my guilty of procrastinating all the time :D ... but one of the surest and fool proof way to avoid examination fever ;) is to study and follow a well-defined schedule every single day so that a day before examination you would only be reviewing and not crammming, get it :D ?
In addition, make study groups... that seriously do help
And on the examination day, be positive and think happy thoughts ... that works as a soothing factor... hope that helps
