do you have a favorite sherlock holmes mystery? (btw, by original i mean the ones written by sir arthur conan doyle only.) mine would have to be the mystery of the dying detective. it's one of the shorter mysteries but i love how sherlock holmes was able to "deceive" culverton smith, his landlady and even dr. watson himself into believing that he was really dangerously ill. come to think of it, acting can be an alternative profession for holmes because this isn't the only instance he was able to effectively act a part and surprise even dr. watson.

I love "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" the most. There are suspense, mystery, thrill and what not? But I guess "Five Orange Pips", "A Study in Scarlett" and "Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" do have Sherlock at his very best.

I think "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" is the one which tell us the adventure of a man with his duck in the Christmas eve. Am I right?

Hi, glad to meet a Sherlock Holmes fan. I've been reading his books since young, and I enjoyed reading, and re-reading his stories.
One of my favourites was found in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - the Adventure of the Speckled Band. Holmes solved the mystery of a murder in a room, where there is no sign of forced entry. How Dr Roylott of Stoke Moran, trained a snake to go through a ventilator hole and killed the occupant of that room.
In fact, I like every single story of Sherlock Holmes

glad to meet a sherlock holmes fan too! yeah i also like this mystery and actually one of my favorite sherlock holmes quotes is in this story. i'm not sure if it goes exactly like this, but it says "violence does in truth recoil upon the violent, and the schemer falls into the pit which he digs for another."

Mine would be " the hound of the baskervilles" It was a really scary and ingenious plot. I read it during school and could never get it out of my mind. Recently i was able to get hold of it again and enjoyed reading it again. I too liked the dying detective story also...

Yeah, I agree with you. I like "The Mystery of the Dying Detective" (translated into "Petualangan Detektif yang Sekarat" in Indonesian) very much. Holmes is very talented as he can scammed dr. Watson. Another story that I like is "The Adventure of Devil's Foot" (translated into "Petualangan Kaki Setan" in Indonesian). I was very entertained when I read it. BTW, Holmes is the greatest detective ever!
