What's Spongebob's magnetic appeal?

Spongebob being a sponge is appealing enough for me. Also (I think) his character, being funny and all that, add to his "magnetic appeal" that's why a lot of people, not just kids, are crazy about him. But even though I really like him, I don't collect Spongebob stuff - well, not yet. :)

Man oh man sponge bob I am in love with i don't I am 18 and all but some reason when I seem him it reminds me of being again and he makes me happy when I'm sad i can always count on him to cheer me and patrick he makes me feel smarter then I am thats why I like him lol

These days I HATE Spongebob - ONLY because its all we watch in our house. My daughter is a freak! When we walk in the living room first thing she says is Spongebob?? I don't know what the appeal is but I do wish that there was more learning because my daughter would be the smartest kid in the world if Spongebob taught her!

hi alena! i don't collect much spongebob stuffs but i have keychains, cellphone accessories, stickers and ballpens. i like spongebob too but not that much. he's really funny, sometimes stupidly funny, but what endears him to me is that he is so innocent. he is like an innocent child that do things without really thinking about it. and that makes him stupid but funny. and he is such a true friend to patrick. he's even nice to mr. krabs who always takes advantage of his ignorance. and he's nice to squidward even if squidward always turns his friendship down. and most of all, Spongebob looks funny with his yellow square appearance, big eyes, thin arms and legs, and his briefs. that's why i like him.^__~ are you ready kids? aye aye captain! who lives in a pineapple under the sea?? spongebob squarepants! ^__^

I do not know what it is that is so appealing about him,because you are right he is just a yellow sponge,but I have to say that me and my fiance watch the show a lot,and we enjoy watching it,just like if it is still on when we have kids we will watch it with them,I think it has something to do with how much humor is in the show without having to sink to bad language and violence.

I just ask you HOW CANT YOU LIKE HIM! hes so funny. and then its make it even more funny that he is something as dorky as a sponge and his name is funny that to. i love him and i have always done it and i will always do.

Hi Alena, I really don't know what his appeal is but I do know my 17 year old daughter thinks he is great and they even do Sponge Bob Square Pants panties in New Look these days LOL. My son who is four is not as keen on him as my daughter though. I tend not to watch TV too much so can take him or leave him. Ellie :D
