How do you get over a major fear? If you have had a major fear, tell your story about getting over it, or if you still have it. I have a major fear of snakes, I can't even look at one without freaking out. I don't like to see them on TV, I don't even like dead or rubber ones. I have tried confronting my situation by being around one, even touching one. Didn't work. I figured I would just be severely afraid of them forever.

I am afraid of snakes too. I used to be a lot worse than I am now. I just talk to them first then I realize they are just a living creature too and I am okay with it. I am deathly afraid of needles though. I hate dentists, doctors, nurses anyone wielding a syringe! I am planning on getting a tattoo and hopefully that will cure my fear!

I just got over my fear of needles believe it or not. I used to have to be restrained to get a shot or an IV. My mom and sister got tattoos, and I didn't want to look like a chicken so I did it too. I figured that if I could do that, I could do anything. I no longer have the fear anymore, still get a little nervous around them though and probably always will. Three tattoos later, its almost cured me of that fear completely. I would recommend it!

Hi there, well as for me I have, or rather I should say had a fear of heights. I've always been afraid of height maybe because as a child I've fallen more times than I care to remember and when I grew up it got worst. I couldn't even go up the stairs of a perfectly safe staircase because I can see right through them. Needless to say it affected me a whole lot more after that, but lately I am able to be comfortable on a high place. Its thanks to the unending support of my Dimsum and a bunch of my friends. My Dimsum laid the foundation for me to overcome my fear. She took baby steps with me very patiently. I always remember how she held my hand and how it used to hurt her because I seemingly crush her hands every time we go up the stairs. LOL And my friends did a wonderful job finishing off my fear by taking me to ride a giant ferris wheel last year. This wheel was so high and there were no seat belts or a high enough guard rail to protect me. LOL I was furious at what they did at first, but then I saw how clam being high up was and it got me thinking that I shouldn't fear the height. Now I can walk alone going up and I could even stand close to an edge of a high place (as long as it has the proper protection). I guess what made me loose my fear is the unending support of those around me, my desire to over come it, a lot of painful exposure and an great deal of trust. Just remember to make those baby steps first. :)
