The newest in the Soulcalibur franchise. There are basically two versions, one version for XBox 360 and one for PlayStation 3.
Do you think that the Xbox 360 version that does not include the free downloadable option to speed up loading time between fights have hindered the playability on Xbox 360?
Also, do you think the short Story Mode is overly text based and worth the price tag of $59.99?
Finally, has the inclusion of Darth Vader, The Apprentice and Yoda just pushed the Soulcalibur series into ridiculousness?

I don't think it did.
Just look at the Soul Calibur that came out for PS2/Gamecube/Xbox quite a few years ago.
They had LINK, SPAWN, and some guy from Tekken.
It is a lot of fun, and helps break up the monotony of the series, by being able to have a lightsaber duel or three.
As far as story mode goes, its a fighting game. There's not much else besides FMVs that they could have done, and they still do quite a bit of that. The text is fine to me.

I am pretty excited because I found out someone I know has the actual Soul Blade game (original Soul Calibur name, usually found only in Arcades).
I myself have groaned through the cheesy dialog so far. But, I think it's fun. Definitely different than the usual strategical FPS I am in love with.
Thanks for your input. I might now put it aside and continue plowing through it. :)

I saw that. My roommate made all the Marvel Comic characters, plus some of my favourite video game characters (SNAKE LOL).
Seems nice. Though "ethnic" hair just doesn't exist on it. Blade looks a bit silly.
I don't have to run clan practice tonite so I might muck about with it and see what I can come up with. Thanks LordEnigma!

Another thing you might consider is creating custom characters.
There is such a deep level of creation you can do, and I have seen many different characters.
Personally, I've created Sephiroth and Cloud from FF7, and the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride.
I've also seen a Solid Snake, and Altair, among others.

xbox 360 is better than ps3 just because it can be hacked to play backups so why pay $59.99 when u can rent a game make a copy and return it i feel like buying games is like a contract and i don't like contracts.
