my rating went down..feeling bad:(

I noticed that u are ranked 1250 among more than 23000 users in mylot interest. isn't that wonderful? Now coming to the matter of your rating. I was introduced to mylot by my husband and one of the first thigs he told me was to not take the rating seriously. I will try to explain what he explained me. Star Rating is the ratio of how many positive ratings you get for every 100 ratings given. Now consider you have made many good posts and you hapen to post a view in one of the discussions which was oposing to someone elses opinion. If that person is of a sick mentality he may have a tendency to mark you negative. and not only for that particular discussion but he may go about marking you negative for any discussion you would have made. This can seriously affect your rating.Because remember that he has to only mark you 10 times if you have posted 100 discussions to bring your rating down by one ( considering thatyou have been rated once for each discussion). So my friend its better you forget about the rating system as most of the mylot leaders who don't hesitate to put forth their views without worrying what others might think about it have very low ratings. I must say few of them have such novel and creative thought process yet they seem to get such poor response from some users. I have seen a few members asking others to mark them negative so that their rating is so low that the sick guys wont get a chance to lower it further.............Thats a great way to deal with these pranksters.

Mine has gone down before too. I think it is because some people do not agree with what you say so they will give you a negative rating. That is no reason to give you a negative since everyone has their own opinions. I rarely give ratings, because who am I to say whether someone's opinion is right or wrong.

Hi amitpuri,don't feel bad it happens I was an 8 now I'm back to a 7 sometimes some jerk gets pissed with your reply and rate you with a negative sign.Just keep responsing with good posts and discussions and your rating will go back up.

Yes it has happened to me. You have committed some kind of mistake. I think you may have put links on your discussion or any other mistake.So don't worry. Try again and work hard to attain good rating.

Yep! It happens to all of us. We have the option to whine and moan and feel bad, blame some troll for giving us negative rating, raise a big rucus and make ourselves sick, or we can say, tomorrows another day. I still get paid, I still have my friends, I can still post, and my rating will come back up. So cheer up my friend. Your rating is one of the least important things here on mylot because it can be effected by things you cannot control. Just keep posting and enjoying mylot!

Amitpuri, I've been down that road, as well. I quickly got a 9 and one day I was a 10. I was overjoyed, only to wake up another day and find it back to 9. I knew I hadn't broke Mylot rules. But I may have commented on a discussion that got removed. I have no idea how they really rate you, so I don't worry about it. I just go about commenting and starting discussions without worrying about what someone else might do.
