About an old woman that cried, "SCAMMERS!"
There once was a woman that answered an ad. She saw it on genuinejobs.com, wherein the actual ad was from craigslist. She applied and got accepted to write articles for the job. She worked very hard, putting much of her time and energy into researching and writing the articles she was hired to write. She even turned a deaf ear to her kids and they became hermits for a week. She turned in all her articles on time with promises to pay that week for her hard work. Friday came and there was nothing in her paypal.... Saturday came and again nothing... She began to worry and her mind snapped, "Scammed! You got scammed you stupid woman." So she shoots off an email to employers who fire right back, "Monday for sure, but sooner if we can "find" the money." With those words haunting her and the old man nagging her to death about whether she got paid, she woke up Sunday and Monday with still not a gain.
She firmed up her lips and "SCAMMED" bounced in her brain. She felt really terrible that she worked so hard and got taken in again. "At least I didn't pay them to work this job," she thought to herself. Yet the wasted time from the week past flashed before her and anger began to bubble in her heart. She would give them until the end of this Monday. From Saturday on, she heard not a word from those she worked for and hit seemed as if she would no more.
Tuesday dawned cloudy and dreary, it matched her moon and she felt quite weary. She got up and fired up the plastic box, typed in paypal and login stuff. There in her paypal was not a penny. She heaved and heavy sigh and shot off another email this time loaded with strife. She accused them of scamming and not being nice. She told them it wasn't smart to advertise with no money to pay, for those that worked each and every day. She got more mad by the moment. She told them Karma would come back to them if the didn't do the honorable thing.
She clicked send and shut off the computer, angry with herself for being so silly as to believe that an ad on the internet would be legit. She went back to bed until her family woke her up, got on the computer and checked her mailbox. Sure enough there was a reply and here is how stupid she was and I will tell you why....
There was a payment made to her just before she sent the message about being scammed and not wanting to work for those dishonest people again. She cried scammers and this is no lie... Now she is waiting to see if her job is on the line.
Point and moral of the story, just because you don't get paid when you think you will, doesn't mean you won't get paid. Yes, there are plenty of scams, but if you sit there and shout it before you know for a fact, then you risk losing out on a deal of a lifetime.
This is my story and now I await to see if I still get to write my articles or not. Paypal does have a delay. They are just but a website and not everything is instant as we would like it to be.

I'm sorry to read this happened. Perhaps, it wasn't the sending reminders to the company that is not so wonderful, but the tone of said reminders. This story has really brought me into place with the old adage of getting more flies with honey. I have found I myself am losing my temper far too quickly these days. Thank you again for this wake up call.

Well no. See my tone of the previous emails discussing this subject were perfectly in bounds. I asked when we get paid, like normal employers discuss, along with how much. I was told I would get paid last week. Ok, great.
Saturday rolls around and still nothing and I am told they are "trying to find" (seriously that is what they said) the money to pay us. Then I was told they were late submitting because a writer was late getting her work done. And they would pay for sure by Monday. And I was told if they can get it before then, I would get paid before then. So Monday rolls around and no money, no explanations, nothing from them but silence. That is when I got mad. If they had gotten in contact and said something I would have been more appeased, but I went a few days without word from them.
Finally, Tuesday rolled around and still nothing when I checked, so that is when I shot off the email and got paid. I wonder to this day if we would have gotten paid if I hadn't said anything. Then I got an apology email and all sorts of explanations. After I ran off at the mouth.
Imagine if you worked hard. All week long in your job and your employer did this to you... I imagine you would have had some choice words too. And with the words "trying to find money to pay you" ringing in your ears the whole time. I put a lot into those articles. I ignored my kids for periods of time to make the deadlines and get stuff done. I more than earned what I had coming. They needed to pay or at the very least tell me what was going on in the meantime.

MEh, it is done. Nothing I can do now, sulking won't fix it so I am over it. As of right this minute.

The one thing that really worries me about the site is that they told your husband that they well pay you IF they can find the money. What does that mean? If they find the money? Are they a legitimate business. Sounds like they must have found the money somewhere but maybe it was only because you complained. I know some sites pay only after they get paid. Makes since huh! But it can take a couple of months sometimes for that to happen. Even when I had my own business there were a lot of people who dragged their payments out for a couple of months but complain if I threatened them. I hope you also sent them another email saying you received the payment and apologize for the previous emails.

At any rate, that is about the gist of it. Yes, I emailed them afterward, but haven't heard back so I think that tells me everything. Oh well. Time to get out into the real world and work. lol. I prefer it anyways. Love my kids, but boy do they drive me crazy sometimes. I am a working mom type I think. lol.

Unfortunately, there are so many scammers out there that online earners can't help but feel paranoid even when it comes to legit earning opportunities. I'm glad that you turned out to be wrong about your employer; hopefully, you'll be able to do more work for them in the future without having to worry so much about not getting paid. One thing about your story puzzles me, though: just where is this "old woman" mentioned in the first sentence of your post? I can't find her anywhere!

Wow, that is kind of a sad story. I hope you still have your job. I ahd kind of a similar thing happend to me, not on that scale but I had an agency that owed me some money and was supposed to pay through pay pal. They did not pay, and so I wrote them a note, not nasty but just asked where the paymet was. I did get it a few days later so I was very happy. Sometimes sites just need a reminder to pay you.
