Katy joined our family just over 3 years ago, when my husband found her cowering in a doorway very late at night. We live in an old Spanish town,Pego.Unfortunately it is common practice in Spain to treat animals like dirt.We did not realize just how bad it is until we lived here for a while. She was very thin an frightened so we gave her water, food and a visit to the vet the next day.She was not micro-chipped,so we kept her,it took a few weeks to get her right physically,a lot longer mentally. We took her out as much as possible,to socialize her and build her confidence,it also took ages to house-train her,she was about 6 months old when we adopted her,so it took longer.Today she is a very beautiful, crazy, confident dog, sweet natured and everyone who meets her loves her.I have been asked to sell her may times, but I would never part with her.If you would like to see pictures and learn more about this ancient and elegant breed, have a look on google.I would be very interested to hear of any other myLotters who have this breed of dog.

Yes the podenco is a beautiful and ancient breed, shame no one else on here knows about them, but why would they, they are only common to spain, probably very few in other parts of the world.
