Number One a person should not surround themselves with one individual. You have a husband/wife but you need to remember that there are others outside your circle such as your friends/family. If it does happen that you have to part or the other die then you should be able to move on. Yes you will mourn and have regrets but that should not hinder you from living again. So it is wrong to make a person be the center of your life. If my boyfriend of five years should die I will be sad and disappointed but I have to move on. My mother die and she and I was the closest in my family, every day I mourned for her but still I have to be strong and move on. So it is best when we can respect his/her memory but not to the detriment of our well being.
