Ahhh the smell of mint. I have tons of it growing out in my backyard behind the garage. it is very evasive meaning it spreads very well. I cut a bunch tonight. They cook with it a lot at my wifes restaraunt. So I will be giving it to them tonight. I also have tons more left for my own use. I use it in tea and also in a potpourri burner. Do you have mint growing? Do you like the smell of fresh mint? What do you use fresh mint for? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Fresh mint sounds wonderful. I love the smell and taste of mint. Fresh mint is also good for repelling mice, they don't like it.

I need to go back to putting it in my kitchen drawers, my cats are getting lazy about mice, and I find the mice evidence.

I love mint tea. or mint chocolate ice-cream. but the latter is of course harder to make. like the brand After Eights are a nice variety of mint chocolate slices as well. hmmmm... I guess I would also use fresh mint to scent my room and home. not sure whether I'd actually put it in a burner, but more likely to just crush it and let the scent waft around the room....

I like mint sometimes. There is a restaurant that we go to, and we love to eat their salsa. They add mint in there now and I really don't like it at all. Once I bite the mint, the rest of the salsa tastes like that. I think it would be better if they left it out or chopped it up a bit finer. I have never grown mint but I would love to use it in my potpourri burner. I have never used fresh mint though.

Do mints grow in tropical countries? Can they live even if they are planted on pots? I really want to take care of plants, but I dont know much about them. Also we have a very little space for plants, so I can only have them if they are on pots.

I also have a bunch of mint growing in my back yard. When I go out to water the mint it smells so good. A friend of mine 2 years ago gave me some mint plants. I planted them with my flowers and now I have mint all over. My husband does not like it cause it took over our flower.

I love mint and just before I go to sleep, while stretched out in my bed sip on a cup of mint tea...LOVE it. Mint is actually lucky, did you know that? It represents prosperity... while it's late in the season to do so, I'm still planning to grow things but indoors...My bedroom window in particular would be a perfect greenhouse type atmosphere....I have a whole bunch of seed packages and got some soil the other day.....now to get myself planting...LOL. Right now all my time and energy is still assembling the captain's bed I just got (almost done)...and have to do a real cleanup job in the bedroom where the old bed still is, dismantle the old bed ....gee, not much...LOL

I am with you there. I too have loads of mint, and wow, you are right, the smell of fresh mint is heavenly. Mint is unruly though. How do you manage it? It spreads and covers the earth so fast, and it intrudes into other beds too. :) I tried trimming it a bit last time, since I don't need that much mint. I need lots of cilantro though and never had as much luck with it as I did with mint. We usually use the mint for chutneys. Cheers and happy mylotting

It can be controlled to a point. I trim it back as it gets near my strawberries. Clipping the stem to the ground. This slows the growth and spreading doen. But I love it and want my whole backyard behind my garage full of mint. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Wow, I have always wanted to grow some mint in my garden. A friend of mine promised to give me some root cuttings of her mint plants and I have been waiting for her for weeks now. She usually comes for a visit once a month, I guess it is because of the heavy rains we are having lately. She has different mint plants that can be used for drinks and dishes and I have asked her to give me different varieties especially the peppermint variety. haha.. She advised me to grow them indoor as the mints should not be expose to the sun's strong heat. I think, that is easy. haha.. Take care always..God Bless!

I love the scent but I've never really used it in anything. None of the things I cook call for it but I think it'd probably taste rather good in iced tea--have you used it that way?

I absolutely love the smell of mint growing in the garden, I have never grown mint but my great uncle used to grow it in his garden. He would always give some to my Gran who would then make her own mint sauce out of it to go with the lamb she did for our sunday dinner. It just tasted fantastic.

I've never grown mint or any herbs before, but have thought about it. I think it would be neat to have a little herb garden growing. Unfortunately I don't have any where to grow one at the moment. Hopefully, I will have a spot next year.

I mostly just keep it growing. I love the smell when I mow it. I like it in tea, and I think it would be good in desserts, chopped with cucumbers, maybe. I also have lemon balm, and use it too, in the same ways. I love fragrant plants. In my dreams I would have all kinds of herbs lining the sidewalk out front, so that all passersby would smell them as they brushed by.

I love fresh mint. but its too dry and hot here without a constant water source to grow The house my folks had when I was a kid had a small bunch growing under the spiggot in the shady back yard. I'd love to have some, but... You know, you need to SELL it to the resturant....

I like the taste of mint but I don't like the smell. Just last week I was cleaning at a clients house and she was home and instructing me what she wanted done, as I was cleaning her kitchen. On one of the counters I was cleaning off, she had a couple bags of dried mint from her herb garden and I picked them up and put them in the cupboard where she keeps all of her herbs and spices. Maybe 5 minutes later I smelled my hands for some reason, and it smelled to me like kitty pee, stale and gross. She told me it was from the mint and that it didn't smell like pee but smelled like mint. Well, if that is the smell of mint I would much rather not eat it, thank you. Alrighty then, talk to you later, Your friend, Chris

hiGrandpa Bob we even have some mint growing just outside our fence here inour apt complex and I often snitch some and use it to make mint tea. Its so soothing if my tummy is a bit upset and also I just like the flavor , that and green tea.Mint is supposed to be good for us too I think.
