Yes, we wrote ours out as soon as we had our children. In this age of step-families, we felt it was a good idea. We don't want our kids fighting over our stuff after we're gone if we can help it. There are will-preparation kits you can buy and probably websites that will help you figure out what you want to say. You can also go to a lawyer. That costs a little more, but you make sure everything is nice and legal that way.

I see..so you are saying that there is much more than jotting down a few things on paper for a WIll ..you have to have it legalized.. I dont have any children etc..and I dont' feel any cats I have will fight over anything except for the kitty food.. I guess I will see if there is something for those who opt for the single life..regarding wills.

Not yet, but since I have a child now, I probably should do that. I have thought about it now and then, when I get ready to do it I will just go to my father, he knows about all that stuff and he will help me.

That's great..You are lucky to have a Father you can run to for this matter..I don't think my father would have been able to help in this matter;)+

Writing Will is easy. In India at least. You go to an attorney, put everetyhting you have and how you want it to be distributed on a stamp paper. Then you register it with subregistrar office. That is it. If anything changes then you got to change it again and register.

Yes, I've had a will for years. I used to work for a law firm that specialized in estate planning, so there was no cost to get mine done. Now that my kids are grown and I have grandchildren, it may be time to think about having a new one prepared. Be sure to speak with an attorney who is Board Certified in Estate Planning to make sure that it complies with the laws in your state.
