One of my friends recommend me this book by Stephen King. I tried to buy the book online only to find it sold out. Is it really so popular? Is it a terror fiction? Has anyone read it? Please share your views about this book.

The DArk Tower is the greatest story STephen King has ever told. It contains elements of the western, romance, science fiction and horror genres. Stephen King first started on this series of novels in 1970, and he has said all his novels are in some way connected to the Dark Tower.
When you have cowboys, vampires, wizards, and killer robots from the future in the same story, how can it not be good?

I agree with you. Stephen King's series of novels are simply fantastic. I almost forgot my meal time the other day lol. Thanks for your comments.

I don't know if you will get this, I know the discussion is very very old! But I just reread the Dark Tower series, and I loved it even more the second time!!
I am a Stephen King fan, and a lot of his works are tied into this series. In the final book (the Dark Tower) he bold faces all of his works that tie in. You cannot read the Dark Tower unless you've read the six preceding it!! The only exception I recommend to friends is skipping "The Gunslinger" (the first book in the series) and starting at "The Drawing of the Three" (the second book). King summarizes the previous books for each new novel, and a lot of people are turned off by the Gunslinger. Once you've finished the series, and come to appreciate the characters, I have no doubt you can return to the first book and enjoy it, but you won't miss much if you start with number 2, and it's easier to get caught up in.
It is horror at times, but mostly the series is fantasy / sci fi / western / adventure. It's a perfect series, and as an avid reader from 1991 - 2005 (when the last book was released), I was not at all disappointed with any portion of the series. If you decide to go ahead with it, have fun!! Be patient, parts of it are slow, but totally worth it in the end.

i've read the seven books of the DT series and really enjoyed them. i am not a King fan, but these books were different. i wouldn't call them horror or terror fiction at all. They're kind of like The Lord of the Rings meets a western, Stephen King style. I'm sure you can find copies somewhere on ebay or half.com.

I have read most of his older work but I did not read this series. It is actually not a new series at all. He wrote them over 17 years ago, but yes they have always been popular. They have an avid following similar to Star Trek. Those who are into it really got into it, lol. I myself was not to impressed and could not get started on them. If you are really wanting the books you might try ebay.

I love Stephen King but could not get into the Dark Tower and that whole series of books. he was writing under his pseudonym of Richard Bachman at that time. Didn't like it. But you might...see for yourself.

i peronally don't like horror series very much either. I am afraid i'll drop the book halfway if it's too scary lol.
