Eating together....

When I was younger my father always told us to eat together every meal. He hates to eat when we are not complete on on the dining table when its eating time. And this is what I have grown into. But when I moved away from home to work, it took time for me to adjust the set up of not eating together with a family.
And just a month ago we started eating like one big whole family in the boarding houe that we are now living. Thank you to our land lord who gave us a space and a room where we can eat together and its something that always reminds me of father and our whole family eating together.
Though we are living in a boarding house and allcoming from different families its great and it feels good to see us eating together happily.
Have a nice day and take care!

My family also has such kind of habit. So if we can't reach home to have a meal together, we will make a call at first. Otherwise they will wait for us when we are home. I like that because at least we have to create more time to stay with each other together.
I love China

Hi there!
My family do try to eat together as much as possible. But there are times when we're not complete and as the boys in the family grew up somehow they have change their eating habits. They're eating time isn't right anymore. They usually eat late especially if they are doing something and if they woke up late too.
I think families should really eat together and share God's blessings as a family.
Ciao!

That’s really happy to hear. It’s always nice when you have somebody to share your meal with. Eating alone feels very lonely. We eat together at home too and dinner is usually the time when we talk about what happened in our day outside the house. House school and what the teacher discussed for my little siblings, what’s news about our relatives, what mom did that day, and it really feels and happy and secured when it’s like that. You know you have these people around you who are willing to listen about what happened to your day. You belong to a family, and it feels really good. And whenever you travel somewhere or needs to be away, it’s always lonely remembering the dining table at home. So am really glad you have your friends that you can share your meal with in your boarding house, and of course thanks to you generous landlord who provided you a place where you can eat together!
Don’t forget to say your prayers before meal!! Happy eating friend…:)

I dont like eating when im alone, as if I dont have the appitite to eat. Its much much more enjoyable when its shared with someone coz is also one way of having this special bond, you can talk about anything while eating and its truly a good time to share good things about each other.
have a nice day and take care!!!

Yeah,To have that kind of memory is really a percious treasure for us .I haven't eat a lot with my father since I am in my middle school due to the reason that my faather went to a place which is so far away from my home .so the chances that we eat together is so samll .I like the food which is cooked by my father as he is really a good cook even though as a man and I am pretty sure that his cooking skill is much better than my mother..hahaha (we should keep this secret otherwise I will have no food to eat haha )

Wonderful memeories of our familis together are one of the most preious treasures we have and moments to cherish. My father was a good cook too. he taught us how to cook and taught us many things that are useful as we matured as individuals.
Thank you my friend and have a nice day!!!

Its one of the best principles to eat together for the family can know what is happening to the other and there is unity. We too enjoy eating together and that is the time my son tells us about his studies, his college life and so on. This way a bond is built. Im really glad you have a wise landlord and that you are eating together with friends. Eating alone is always depressing. HIP HIP HOORAY for such landlords. Very rare to find.

This is how I grew up, eating at least our evening meal as a family. I carried that over to my own family when I got married and had children.
When my daughter was in high school, she would invite friends over to eat with us. They were a little surprised that we turned off the tv and sat down at the table to eat. This surprised me. This is something we had always done, and I guess I just thought families did that in the evenings. It is a time for us to catch up with what is going on with each other, laugh and tell stories and such.
I know we are quite a busy society these days, but, I think that this is something that families should get back to. At least have the evening meal together when your children are growing up in your house. They will carry it with them into to the next phase of their lives.

Most experts will tell you that kids who grow up in this environment will be less likely to get into trouble, and they will generally do better in school. When my kids were eating at a different rate than I was, when they were small, I would eat, starting out with them, then when I was done, I would read to them at the table.

Well, i am from theese people who find the family diners boring and teasing. I live with my parents, but i am not emotionally closed to them, so for me this is not so pleasant and i try to avoid it when it`s possible.
But for many people this is sweet and pleasant...:)

well of course you will feel that its important when you eat alone, you can only realize its important when your parents are no longer around. You should count yourself blessed for you still ahve a family that eats together while others dont have coz they belong in a broken family. So I say treeasure this moments with them and cherish nice memeories with your family.

When I lived 2 weeks communally with a group of people, the three meals of the day eaten with a bunch of people was nice. Esp. since everyone did something different that day so we all had a chance to talk about our experiences. It was nice. We also had the option to eat alone if we had something to think about or were in a hurry and had to go somewhere. Interesting conversation, esp. since the people there were from all over the USA.

I think as children we all sat at the table and ate as a family unless my dad was working late then his meal would be left in the microwave or the oven and he would have it when he returned. I love sitting at the table being surrounded by my family and eating dinner together.
I will pass this down to my children as I think its about the only time a family is together and they can discuss what happened during their day and their plans for upcoming days!!
Thanks for sharing x

This is so good custom I should say, even in our family we also follow the same rule.We never get late for our dinner. My mom makes sure all of us are present for dinner. It feels nice, when you are together as whole.Otherwise, all of us are busy, running behind school, colleges, job, you hardly get time to see and sit together as a family. Now,even when am somewhere staying far from my loved ones, have good friends but still I miss that family dinner I used to have it at home.Good day!

oh that sounds so nice! I wish my little house could do that, but with 4 of my roommates and myself all having different schedules, we barely see each other until right before bedtime.
On a different note, your pic is making me want to watch Mulan again, thank you lol

you know - studies have shown that families who eat at least one meal together have children who get into trouble later on in life.
we used to eat together as a family, too, when i was growing up and so did my husband's family when he was growing up. for me, it indicates good breeding and proper family upbringing as well. i really believe you can never be too busy to try and spend (meal) time with family or people you love.

Well, I don't really have a tradition of eating together as a family especially since our schedules all differ.
But lately, I've been eating at least once a week with my parents and husband to a home cooked meal so the feeling of family is more there.
also with my in laws I eat together and there are so many of us now that the family has expanded so we take up quite a large table when we eat out as well.
great that you have a home away from home this way!

Its ok, we cant really deny the fact that we have different schedules and we wont meet, but once a week of meal together is fine as long as you always try to make it very special.

That's really nice. Eating alone is actually quite sad because you can't share the joy of it to someone. Eating together on the other hand not only shares the food but also the joy of eating.

Eating together with all the family members is a healthy habit, I think by doing this we come closer with each members , can share our feelings , happiness, sorrow all sort of lifes problems. My husband never use to eat when one of the member is missing. so in my opinion it is a one way to make the bond of relationship strong.

I am glad to hear that, you know, our whole family has not got that chance for five or six years. i am really missing that moment when we got together to have a big meal. As a students seeking for my study, there are three years i don't come back to my hometown now. Some people who i knew may be left from this world, some children may unfamilir to me. when heard your story, i desperately want to go back hometown now.
